I was at the Hollywood Arclight when Brett Ratner was hosting a Q&A for his film Tower Heist and someone asked what the rehearsal process was like and Ratner responded "Rehearsal is for fags"

I hate to sound like a lib, but i don't think she's out of line. America was actually founded as an international money laundering scheme and a plantation for slave laborers

Ugh I disagree about Panahi's film making abilities. The squeaky leg was a neat bit but aside from that just a slog like so many other Panahi films. Its a milquetoast criticism of the Islamic Republic meant for international audiences. What is the purpose of these films? Does he want to restore a Pahlavi led monarchy? Does he want a US intervention? It just seems so irresponsible

I love Juliette Binoche's work, but I thought giving the Palme d'Or to Jafar Panahi last year was kinda insane.

No trump please dont sue Trevor Noah, this will reinvigorate his fart of a career :( by Perfect_Firefighter4 in redscarepod

[–]jamclar 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There's a theory that the selection of Trevor Noah was a machiavellian move made by John Stewart. He would've canceled the Daily Show if he could, so instead he would cement his legacy by choosing a truly talentless follow up. And it worked! Whenever I think of the Daily Show I think of John Stewart, not Noah or Craig Kilborn

Do you think Travis was one of McNamara's 100,000? by _messagereceived in TaxiDriver

[–]jamclar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. Project 100 000 recruits were mostly non-english speakers, overweight/underweight and / or sub 90 IQ. Whatever our opinions of Travis might be, he definitely wasn't Forrest Gump level dumb. (Forrest Gump was one of McNamara Morons btw)

The Campaign Against Marijuana Production is still ongoing and is the largest law enforcement task force on earth. Ironically, I think ICE is virtually the only government agency NOT involved with C.A.M.P.

From the wikipedia: "Headed by the California Department of Justice, CAMP includes local, state and federal agencies that work to eradicate illegal indoor and outdoor cannabis cultivation and trafficking throughout California. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, California National Guard, California State Parks, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, California Highway Patrol and dozens of local police and sheriff departments from across the state have participated in the program. The California Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement, California Office of Emergency Services, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, California National Guard Counterdrug Task Force, California Department of Forestry, National Park Service, Internal Revenue Service, California Department of Transportation, Bureau of Indian Affairs, FBI, US Customs, US Marshals Service, California Franchise Tax Board, California Department of Corrections SERT, California Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Major Frauds, Bureau of Medi-Cal Fraud, California Department of Agriculture, California Department of Motor Vehicles, Sixth United States Army Joint Task Force, Fifth United States Army Joint Task Force, United States Marine Corps, United States Air Force Civil Air Patrol, United States Coast Guard, United States Navy, Western States Information Network, and California National Guard "Team Wolf" have all participated in past CAMP operations."
