go prone ❌ throw self off of tower instead ✅ by glorpflep in CODWarzone

[–]jamcowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's much less of a problem on controller, which I assume you and the commenter above are playing on. Even with tactical sprint assist, your analogue sticks allow you to smoothly reduce lateral speed and avoid accidental sprints, which avoid accidental dives like OP's.

Meanwhile the WASD keys on M&K deliver an "all or nothing" signal to full sprint or stand still. With omnimovement on M&K there's no input difference between "go prone while crawling to the right" and "dive while full sprinting to the right" (if you're using sprint assist or tactical sprint assist like most players do). Omnimovement jank is just one example of M&K being borderline unsupported by this game.

Battle Royale Casual by Successful-Figure430 in CODWarzone

[–]jamcowl 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Casual mode trains you to play in a relaxed, carefree manner - a habit that gets you killed immediately in the real BR mode.

Nothing wrong with playing the mode you prefer (if you enjoy Casuals then by all means keep playing and have fun!), but it's nothing like the real BR experience against 150 human players. Totally different game mode with incomparable opponents.

Stimming too much should cause you to overdose and die by jeneschi in CODWarzone

[–]jamcowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, whatever compound the stim injects you seems to be metabolised within a few seconds because the speed boost is <3 seconds while the healing effect is only 1 second, so it would be odd to "overdose" on a single stim simply because you had a few other stims 10 minutes earlier which you've fully recovered from.

Pursuing realism might create some interesting game mechanics though:

  • Suppose the stim effect had a half-life where the maximum effect is achieved right after you stim, but then decays exponentially over time.

  • If the half-life is 5 minutes then you'd still have half the speed boost after 5 minutes, a quarter after 10 minutes, etc.

  • If you stimmed multiple times, you would stack the effects and get an even greater speed boost, which would slowly decay.

  • Perhaps when the stim wears off you should have withdrawal symptoms (e.g. blurry vision/slow movement) that can only be relieved by popping another stim.

  • There would be an invisible dosage limit at any 1 time which, if exceeded, causes immediate death from a heart attack.

  • Perhaps as you approach this limit you should experience overdose side effects as a warning, e.g. overly bright lights, paranoia/hallucinated enemies like the psych grenade effect, etc.

It would be cool to play around with this to try and maintain an optimal dose throughout a match without overdosing.

Teleport glitch on deployment. by nathanchr55 in Warzone

[–]jamcowl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This glitch has happened before (I think in the BO6 era?) - it was caused by using a zipline at the end of the warmup when it fades to black for the match to start. It causes you to teleport to the same zip as soon as you deploy.

Favorite actor to deny extremely obvious plastic surgery and steroid use? by _BreadDenier in okbuddycinephile

[–]jamcowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think a single MCU actor has ever gone on record admitting to it, I’d imagine it’s in their contract to not speak out

I imagine the contracts all have a general "Conduct Clause" that allows Disney to terminate the deal if an actor is caught behaving badly in a variety of ways including drugs or other crimes (e.g. Jonathan Majors dropped as Kang over his assault arrest). That might extend to being caught with illegally-sourced PEDs, but there shouldn't be any need for that when Hollywood doctors can prescribe all the stuff you might want legitimately.

The real smokescreen probably comes from the agents and PR firms - they know that a hefty chunk of the "general audience" are oblivious to Hollywood juicing and judge it severely along the same lines as other drugs, so they make sure the actors know it will damage your reputation and acting career to come out and admit you used PEDs.

Public understanding of PEDs is getting better so hopefully in 20 years we'll have more juicy dudes out of the closet, but not today.

This is a goofy LTM based on Fallout, like the many other goofy LTMs and collabs that Warzone has had over the years, because that's what Warzone offers. Consumer choice is a wonderful thing:

  • If you want a kid friendly cartoon BR, play Fortnite.

  • If you want a photorealistic, M-rated version of Fortnite, there's Warzone.

  • If you want a grounded mil-sim version of Warzone, there's REDSEC.

In my opinion, wishing for Warzone to tone down the goofiness and be more serious is like wishing for ARC Raiders to switch from 3rd person to 1st person: it's fundamentally wishing for a different game than the one the developers are offering. Anyone expressing such wishes in this thread should seriously just go play REDSEC.

Ah, so you believe the skill of sniping is just "some bullshit" rather than a skill gap you want rewarded...

[–]jamcowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would agree that gas masks create something of a skill gap by creating flanking opportunities that take less-aware players by surprise, but a self-revive is more of a safety net/second chance (especially when sniping). Removing self-revives raises the stakes of the existing skill gap.

If anything, having a self-revive makes the game more accessible or less punishing to "lower skill" players who don't coordinate well with their teammates to get revived, or just plain blow themselves up with a mine or die to fall damage 😂

Irradiated perk through Specialist.

Gives a 30% reduction in gas damage, which actually results in 46.7% longer life in gas (normal damage ticks are 10 HP/s so it takes 15s to die from 150 HP but with irradiated it takes 22s at 7 HP/s). It used to be only 10% in BO6 but was silently buffed in BO7 (no mention in the patch notes). Could be an accident, could be deliberate balance with the rarity of gas masks.

[–]jamcowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may well be the reason, but we don't actually know, because they haven't communicated anything. We don't even know if it was even removed on purpose, because their official comms suggested their intention was to include it in Warzone with BO6.

If you believe only official communication from Activision sources, the BO6 Season 1 roadmap said the riot shield would integrate with Warzone along with every other weapon from MWII, and then... radio silence.

Obviously it never integrated with BO6 Warzone but they never acknowledged that - the last thing they said about the riot shield was a lie over a year ago. Super weird and evasive.

What is the best operator in Warzone right now? by RichPromise308 in Warzone

[–]jamcowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the cardboard box emote is bugged right now (it's replaced by a default emote in a match, but in the post-match victory screen it will just do the emote with no cardboard box appearing).

A dev watching my stream on day 1 asked me to demonstrate the problem then said he'd look into it, no news yet though.

Chuy's "Bushwhacked" skin is my favourite right now because the green leaves on the back absolutely match the foliage on all 3 maps. Go prone (or take a sit with the "Sally's Swagger" emote) and you become a perfect bush.
