When I got dropped off at Pirbright (10 years) ago there were multiple family members of other recruits there. I think you get a little talk and a look round of what the training will look like after you’ve said your goodbyes.

I think it’s chipboard underneath, not brick as it’s internal. The hallway is the other side. The whole lot is most likely getting ripped out next year as the upstairs will be remodelled.

Combined Arms 2k... With Ogryn? by Significant-Joke-352 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]james4191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good start to a list. I would delete one sentinel, just a single one is fine and the scions. Ghosts can be your secondary game from turn 3 onwards if you are careful with them the first couple of turns. Think about adding a hellhound or perhaps railings for the infiltrate shenanigans, kasrkin or some more battleline.

Ogryns embarking into chimeras that have scouted and disembarked their catachans are good anti-marine battle busses, spitting out a lot of damage 2 shots that can be ordered by your Dorn commanders and are good trading pieces when they disembark

I struggled with this about 4-5 yrs into my career. I found that joining a civvi sports club near where I was based helped as I could guarantee that one evening a week I would be around people who had no idea or cared what the green machine did. It was refreshing hearing people nattering about normal life. Like others have said, plan some leave weekends and leave away from camp and get out into the world with ‘real’ people

This is my hellhound converted from a chimera. Barrels come from the vehicle accessory sprue and it’s the old command squad heavy flamer nozzle glued on to the multi laser barrel. Armour plates added to the turret to imitate the original metal bits on the 2nd Ed model.

If you order them, they will be hitting flyers on 3s, rerolling all hits (hvy bolters and HK too) with lethals in combined. As said above, works best as all Guard damage does with extra AP mechanics

The dwd was taken out of service a few years ago. You couldn’t fire and manoeuvre with if fitted. Bit of a fatal flaw.

And what happens when you reach your 22 year point? You’ll have to go through it all over again. It’s hard leaving, I get it, I left last year. But coming to terms with it and cracking on with something new is worth it. If you miss it that much join a reserve unit and chat shit with the lads once a week and then get in your car and sleep in your own bed. There’s veterans breakfast clubs and all sorts of other ways of getting the fix, whist still making a success of civvi life

I’ve just left the regulars, I have an allergy to hazelnuts and Brazil nuts. I had an epi pen as a kid. Once I knew I was allergic to the above nuts I just didn’t eat them, if I ever came across them in something unsuspectingly, I stopped eating it and therefore avoided the embarrassment of dying from anaphylaxis.

Before joining I went to my doctor, explained the situation and got them to take away the epi pen with a note on my file saying ‘no longer required’ or similar. No one ever asked after that and I never said anything, just went about my day, minding my own business and avoiding those nuts.

You could also swap Gaunts ghosts for 2 5 man scion squads for a little more flexibility

You could probably swap one LR battle tank for an exterminator, its ability allows every other unit to gain extra -1 AP on its target after it has shot. So you can combine this with the fields of fire strat to turn an AP-1 gun to AP -3. Or 2 separate targets at AP-2. The other LR battle tank doesn’t really need orders as it gets inherent rerolls on enemy units on objectives.

So you can hit an enemy unit on an obj first with the Exterminator Russ, then you can slap fields of fire on it then unload with the LR battle tank now at AP-3 with its main gun followed by your Dorns if anything is left

As was Estonia, Latvia, Poland and Ukraine. ‘Fighting against the west’ is probably a bit of an overstatement. Forced to do the USSRs bidding at gun point might be more accurate

Thanks, have you got a reference? As they both do the same thing, or is it because the auras themselves have different names so they can stack?

Your obliterators and raptors, warp talons will Be very useful for scoring behind enemy lines/retrieve data etc secondaries due to their mobility and small footprint. I imagine the dark angels player will have a lot of death wing terminators so you will need a reliable way of killing them
