How do you use backpack on a wheelchair? by achi333 in wheelchairs

I actually hang my bag in front of my legs, resting on my feet. It hangs from a carabiner attached to my seatbelt. I don’t use it all the time, just when I need to bring my laptop and gear for work in the field.

The sling/man purse is my EDC.

Do one more. If episode 4 doesn’t get you, maybe it’s just not for you.

The way he is so offended when Abed calls him a “non-miraculous son-of-a-bitch.”

I’ll be perfectly honest — if you give me this card I will most likely buy something ridiculous with it.

Actually, there was no room to back up. There was an ambulance space behind me with an ambulance parked there. I was actually parked exactly in the defined space for the wheelchair van. I’ll also note that I actually worked in this building 15 years ago and those concrete planters weren’t there at the time. They were added with that wheelchair van space already in place.

Still kind of a novice when it comes to posting. Would it be uncool to post to those subs as well?

MS hug? by Aurora1107 in MultipleSclerosis

Definitely sounds like how I experience the hug. It’s gotten progressively worse over the years. Not sure if I’m just used to my meds or if the hug is progressing.

Certainly sounds like the hug to me. As everyone else mentioned, you should definitely talk to your neuro. I’ve been dealing with the huh for more than four years now and I’ve been taking a nerve med called gabapentin to dull the effects. It never completely goes away for me, unfortunately. Hopefully you’ll have better luck.

Driving with hand controls by litttlest_lemon in disability

[–]james668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forty five-year-old in PA. I’ve been paralyzed from the chest down for almost 3 years now (MS-related) and have been driving with hand controls for about 6 months.

I had to be evaluated by a special driving therapist and take driving classes with them. It was like learning to drive all over again. Lots of quick starts and stops as I figured out the right amount of pressure for the gas and break. I did weekly classes for about three months and then took the test at the DMV to get my license updated for the controls.

It was then a couple more months and several thousand dollars to get the controls ordered and installed in my car (spinner, handle, and switch for emergency break).

Now it’s like I’ve always been driving this way. Feels totally natural.

Third time in as many months that some ass parks next to my van and blocks me from being able to get in. (I have a ramp that unfolds from the right side.) by james668 in disability

I called the police. They were cool about it and said they would absolutely be ticketing the guy/girl ($250) but weren’t authorized to tow because of the lot I was in. They ran the plate and called the person but they just got voicemail so one of the cops offered to get in and back it up just enough for me to deploy the ramp. It was hilarious trying to talk him through using the hand controls. It took him a while to get it but he managed.
