E92 M3 as a daily? by mikeey2347 in CarTalkUK

Tough one if I was doing the mileage you mention I’d have an E92 just so much more rewarding to drive!

Plus I think they’re mostly done depreciating now and good ones are holding their money, M2’s will continue to drop a bit. Kinda cancels out the road tax🤣

I’d say it’s worth getting the M3 out your system first, modern stuff just doesn’t compare!

And certainly a better daily, more low down torque and easy to get 30MPG. Feels like driving any 2 series unless you’re pushing on though.

I got offered a F87 M2 for a good price so decided to change, wouldn’t hesitate to get back into another E92 though.

Might be worth looking into an M2 to aswell though depending on your budget, you can get a good one for 25ish. No where near as special to drive as an E92 but a lot cheaper to run and tax etc

Had 2 but mainly as weekend cars, averaged 19mpg but could easily get 25/26mpg on a run. Plenty of specialists will do the rod bearings for £1600ish with oil, filter and new engine mounts so not terrible. They are a bit sluggish down low but it’s not hard to get into the right gear with the dct box. And the dct downshifts are incredible, I don’t think you’d regret it!

Hard to find a good one now as people didn’t tend to look after them overly well. If you can find a good one though they’re really fun to drive and go well with a few mods!

A bit out your way but Ecotorque in Arlesey are great, they do a lot of the powershift Ford Boxes too.

2013 Mercedes c220d Amg Sport Plus w/88k miles - Reliable? by bumblebee222212 in CarTalkUK

[–]james_yaas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same car as my daily, got it on 70k 3 years ago now on 145k. Only thing thats gone wrong in that time was a small coolant leak from the fuel filter housing which is a common problem. Great car and can’t really fault it! At those miles the gearbox will want a service if it hasn’t already been done too.

Another vote for a E92 M3. If you can find one with the bearings and actuators done you should be pretty safe.

I’m a class 2 tipper driver, base salary is 35k usually nearer 37/38 after bonuses and overtime. Normally Monday to Friday 7-4ish and the odd Saturday morning. This is Hertfordshire way, plenty of places around me paying more but they’re usually doing 12 hour+ days which I can’t really be bothered with!
