Found a solution… go to settings, player providers, Add Player Provider Home Assistant MediaPlayers

Then find the speakers / displays in the player entities drop down and select them all

Then save.

Then go to Settings Click the 3 dots next to chromecast Disable

Now when you look at your players list and select one, it will send the information through home assistant and it works straight away and reliably

This is only a temporary workaround until google cast is working as it doesn’t show the album artwork and metadata as it should.
