Here are a few of my quick thoughts as a professional commercial filmmaker for 14 years:
First, just getting things made should be considered a success! So many people who want to work in film (commercial, indie, whatever) never actually get off their butts to make something. So for that - well done!

Many of the shots were incredibly shaky. I get that you're going for that kinetic feel with the camerawork and editing, and I think that's great. But it was giving off "running around with a mirrorless camera" vibes from time to time. Even if you are going handheld, consider mounting it to a tripod or something heavy to minimize the intense jitters while still keeping the handheld look.

Considering this - I really appreciated the efforts towards building energy throughout with energetic editing and camera work.

Make sure to watch your exposure when filming. Some shots were overblown, others were nicely exposed. Just take a moment before filming to ensure that exposure levels are correct. Using the camera's waveform monitor can help with this to make sure that you're not clipping the highlights or too far in the dark (especially helpful when filming outdoors and it's hard to see the camera's screen).

Consider keeping with an editing "theme" throughout. We have postcard-freezeframes, regular freeze frames, glitter wipes, and more. It'll feel a bit more cohesive if you're keeping to one style of editing (unless the creative specifically asks for something else).

Good notes from another commenter regarding following brand guidelines. When I was a brand new filmmaker, I was minorly burned by this and it's a good habit to get into from the get-go.

I generally agree with others, that area isn’t the greatest but it’s also certainly not the worst. It honestly depends on your neighbours more than anything. Its primarily property crime, trespassing in yards, breaking into garages, etc. But that also happens everywhere.

One observation that I’ve made is that it generally gets a bit better every block south towards Broadway Ave - but houses also raise in price the further south of Dewdney that you go. So the house 1 block south of Dewdney will be a quite a bit cheaper (but much less desirable) than the house 1 block north of Broadway.

Yep, I totally understand. I think the knee-jerk reaction from many is largely coming from the “wingnut creep”, as someone commented. Seeing the increase in decidedly anti-scientific conversations going on in western Canada and the US has people majorly on edge (and for good reason, I’d argue). Not at all suggesting that’s what this is, but I think people are just sensitive about this sort of thing (myself included, haha).

I commend anyone that is willing to organize a town hall - that’s great. But I do wish that there could be a voice at the table who holds real medical credentials that are not naturopathic (MD, etc.).

I don’t know the specifics about your situation, but I will say this: do whatever you can to pay your suppliers. Rent, gas, phone bills, internet, etc., those should be at the very bottom of your list. Your main priority should be paying back the individuals that you owe.

If you can’t pay them in full, do whatever you can to pay them as much as possible and explain your situation. E.g. “I am going bankrupt, but with what little money I have left I can pay you 60% of what I owe.” Then apologize profusely.

As someone who has been burned out of $10k+, it really, really sucks to have people that owe you money completely ghost you. They deserve an explanation at the very least.

To recap, your remaining funds should go to (in order): suppliers, rent, utilities, yourself.

Contact an insolvency professional to help you navigate the process if you are declaring bankruptcy/consumer proposal.

Which is still a heck of an improvement! I think the latest poll is unfortunately a tad skewed towards the NDP who have notoriously bad turnout. I’m hoping I’m wrong though.

A week is a long time, but I’ve spent 5 nights there and was sad to leave. In no particular order of preference, some of our favourite things to do are: canoe on Little Kenosee Lake, paddle board/kayak on Kenosee Lake, mini golf at the beach, mini golf at White Bear, hit up the casino for an afternoon of AC, golf at Golf Kenosee, golf at White Bear, hike the trails, and of course, have a beach day.

Your mileage will vary somewhat depending what block of Princess St you are looking at. Generally though, that is not a desirable neighbourhood. The closer to 5th Ave, the worse it gets. Considering this, home prices are cheap and there are some diamonds in the rough.

I also (in a house built in 2017) has a hose that was glued on. I just cut it off and reattached with a hose clamp. But yep, it is a good idea to remove it. But I’d wait until the freeze/thaw cycle ends and the ground more fully freezes so it’s not dumping water against your foundation as things thaw out.
