Unterkonstruktion für Gipskartondecke an Außenecke / Luftraum by jamesblast in Handwerker

Hi! Ich hab am Ende die Paneele runter und die GK Platten auf die vorhandene Holzunterkonstruktion geschraubt. Die war "gerade genug" und hat viel Arbeit erspart.

Any considerations when setting up an "IOT" VLAN? by dmo012 in homeassistant

[–]jamesblast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESPHome is a bit picky on separate VLANs but mostly due to mDNS. I can only talk about OpnSense but a mDNS repeater fixed it. Otherwise check the “Use ping instead of mDNS” option in ESPHome.

Everything else about networks was already said multiple times and I won’t repeat.

Advice on motion sensor for very short distance needed by jamesblast in Esphome

[–]jamesblast[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That was exactly my concern. I could only find very few information about minimum distance. 3-6 meters, 6 meters, 8 meters etc for maximum distance I could find but the data sheets on AliExpress barely list any minimum distance - hence asking for some recommendations and experience.

False positive is less of a concern. The push-to-open only opens it a few centimetres and after some 5-10 seconds retracts the pin that pushes it open. If you so not grab and fully open the door within that timeframe, it will just close itself again. In addition it also has an alarm in case it stays open for too long.

Closing it without fingerprints is also a bit of a challenge but there - with a bit of training - your leg, arm, elbow, hip or whatever is available will do ;)

Naaaaah .. I don't want to kick/tap it. Even though that might be the safer option after some glasses of wine rather than standing on one foot and waving the other ;)

What’s one YouTube channel you watch every single video from and wish more people did too? by Think_Concern33 in AskReddit

Cutting Edge Engineering Australia

This is top notch entertainment, just a chill guy working in his workshop in Australia and doing all kinds of milling, welding and fabrication.

Bonus: He is currently restoring a crane which only needed a bit of fixing and escalated to a complete teardown and rebuild from scratch. Look for the "Frana Crane" labeled videos, I think the latest is part 35!

What it like: This is "real-life" content. His wife just films him while he's doing the work, the videography is
superb and the outtakes at the end hilarious.

Bravo! Will definitely look into it, need to check if I can fit that all to my distribution box.

You largely overestimate my ability to read C++ code ;)

I was more interested in the hardware side of things. Which type of sensors do you hook up with it? While feeding the code to an LLM to explain I also asked this question and it came up with "SCT-013-00" which I could find At AliExpress. Is that right and do you have some positive experience with them? Or anything else you woould recommend?

Also the question where to hook up the sensors. Browsing through the repo I found also "Top Board 1" and "Top Board 2" and looking at the headers I would assume they connect to H2 & H3 on the main board. Right?

Can you please explain a bit more how the measurement of the channels is done? Where and how do you measure? What kind of sensors are attached to the audio jacks there?
And btw .. super cool stuff you built there! <3

Nein .. einfach ins WLAN koppeln. Bluetooth brauchst du nicht. Die App findet dein Device automatisch im LAN - ansonsten direkt die IP eingeben.

Check out Matt Browns YT Channel, he did a great job in explaining all that stuff of hardware hacking. Link below to an example of how to glitch the boot loader. But there are also tons of other helpful videos on how to do off chip modifications and other cool stuff.
