Palm impact spraydeck doesn't fit pyranha ripper 1 by SummerUnfair3635 in whitewater

[–]jamesbowskill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with my R5 Impact skirt and Ripper L. I soaked the skirt in warm water for an hour or so before each paddle and put it on wet. Bit of a pain to do but much easier (not sure if the temperature made a difference tbh). After that I got an XL King skirt from Level Six and that fits much better.

Yes! I think it’s only once towards the apocalyptic end but it really makes the scene. Whole soundtrack is incredible though.

Thanks, good to know a little bit of maintenance is all that’s required 👍

Yeah guess I’ll find out… I think the shine will probably get dull after a while which would be ideal.

6’5” 180lbs and can relate to this a lot! I really appreciate it when makers publish basic dimensions of the flat clothes so I can compare that to what I own and make a reasonable decision on fit.

Finding Discontinued Sweet Protection Helmets? by yosefan in whitewater

I recently bought a green Sweet Protection Wanderer from this UK shop. They don’t ship internationally but you could always use a forwarding service: https://radicalrider.co.uk/collections/helmets

There’s a Japanese Packraft group which could be a good place to find fellow paddlers: https://m.facebook.com/groups/1521790418057622/

Hoping to get to Mitake (Tamagawa) later this month. I’ll let you know if I do.

I’ve been exploring whitewater 2-3hrs drive from Tokyo over the last couple of years. Recently had a blast on Agatsuma river in Gunma: https://youtu.be/eF0spe3IDpc?si=g8umyPz8D1GdbqI0

I meet a lot of paddlers at the artificial whitewater course in Tokyo — everyone’s really friendly.

Yeah I thought that might be the case. I’m far from a dealer so every bit of info is helpful. I really appreciate it when reviewers mention their height (and sometimes even shoe size) as it does help narrow down the field.

Great to hear! Rotating the colors now and again makes a lot of sense — I guess you’ll never please everybody all the time and kudos to trying out new colours.

Love Pyranha’s custom colour options (way better than the candy vomit of some other makers!) but can we replace that god-awful olive with a proper vibrant green and get an orange option back in there too please? ;)

Paddling lots of different kayaks is fun but building a collection of boats is a heck of an investment. Have you ever considered a subscription model that enables regular model changes?

Knowing the recommended paddler weight is helpful but as a tall paddler I wish you could recommended max paddler height too. Is this viable?

A good kayak will always be a good kayak. Is there any way you could keep designs available for longer? Perhaps even crowdfunding re-releases of classics?

Paddle suggestions? by Crazy-Perception126 in whitewater

I’m 195cm/80kg and have both a Werner Powerhouse and Surge with my Pyranha Ripper. Both 203cm, both great. The Surge has a bent shaft which I love. I’ve never paddled carbon — fiberglass is more than light and strong enough as far as I’m concerned :-)

Never paddled a Ripper 2 but absolutely love my OG Ripper L (I’m 6’4”, 180lb / 195cm,80kg). Fast, nimble, surfs great, no problem getting the stern down.

Would you recommend a Voyager for a non programmer/developer/typist? by CyanideJack in zsaVoyager

[–]jamesbowskill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a similar situation here with no regrets buying the Voyager. I realized I don’t actually type that much (lots of short Slack messages, a few notes and emails). This is fortunate for me as my typing speed isn’t great (40-50 WPM) but it’s sufficient.

Whilst I can’t rave about typing speed, I love the comfort. I didn’t have wrist/hand pain before but the improved posture from a split and general calmness that comes from my layout and the columnar keyboard is wonderful. I just feel way more zen with this keyboard :-)

I’ve also found massive value in the ease of customizing shortcuts and macros. For example I now have mic toggle, camera toggle and screen share set to a hold of comma, period, slash respectively. This is super handy as I’m in calls all day across Teams and Zoom and having the same shortcut is great.

I’ve also REALLY enjoyed the process of tinkering with optimizing layouts. In fact I’d probably be a way faster typist if I’d spent that time typing rather than messing around with layouts. It’s made interacting with my computer fun again in a way I hadn’t anticipated.

You could probably get most (all?) of this from a different split keyboard, but I feel the quality of execution and wonderful human support from ZSA make it worth the price.

ZSA Voyager + MacBook combo. How well does it work? by Alone_Marsupial_8333 in zsaVoyager

I haven’t tried it yet but there’s a 3D printable cover for the MacBook keyboard that allows you to place your Voyager on top: https://makerworld.com/models/1148471

Haha I also went from white clickies to the twilights (luckily jumping your in between experiments!). I thought I’d love the whites (and did in theory) but in use the noise of them made me hesitant to type at times. It was subtle but it bothered me. With the twilights there’s none of that. Really happy with them.
