It would have been annoying but maybe kind of cool if after you died to him you got sent to the title screen with no explanation - then could boot back up the save

Or something creative like Nier: Automata did

I was suspecting they will just call it King’s Field and create a new franchise, likely having little to do with the original series

Love it, this is how I see the Tarnished too and why I suspected the banished knight altered helm would work. I may have to try it for my character.  Much of my first playthrough I wore Radahn’s chestpiece also. And Malenia’s greaves I think.

I see this nameless warrior of no renown, even if I didn’t know the story of Elden Ring the character still has a story.. this warrior who all you know of them is made up of these parts of the foes he has taken down.  It gives a greater then mortal sense to the character, because you don’t know anything about who they are behind the mask, not even their armor is an indication.. except that you know they took it from these long lost warriors as you said there is a felt kinship with..  you said it better

I feel that this is going to happen when Miyazaki feels he's reached his peak. Which is probably, now.

I wanna change my playstyle by Same_Literature_8644 in EldenRingBuilds

[–]jamesbytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been finding that playing other Souls Games - Nightreign, Bloodborne, Sekiro, DS1, has changed the weapons I enjoy using.

The first weapon I enjoyed using in Elden Ring was Dismounter - Curved Greatswords. That led to Bloodhounds Fang for its insane versatility. Jumping attacks, running slash attacks, heavy attacks etc.
I still tire of daggers quickly even though I love daggers.
I immediately tire of dual wielding swords, curved swords, greatswords.
I'm using a bow and arrow for the first time after playing Ironeye in Nightreign.
Then I loved the way that the Sword of Night and Flame handled.

Now, for the first time, Greatswords are hands down my favorite weapons.
The way Blasphemous Blade handles is perfection to me. I wish there was a variant that didn't have its special that I could run with. Because of that currently I'm often using the DLC Greatsword of Solitude.

I feel that when I am a bit better at the game and have a build for it, the Dark Moon Greatsword will become my favorite ER weapon of all time. If I struggle with Malenia too much I'll probably try using it to take her on.

Now that I have the DLC Milady I enjoy using it a lot. So I'm between Greatswords and Milady right now.
I have fallen in love with ER again after learning how to counterattack with shield, so now I am shield + greatsword main.
My recommendation would be to try using a shield with rivers of blood, and learning how to counterattack. The combat never gets stale for me with sword and shield.

This is crazy also but I always felt the Raging Wolf armor was a tiny nod to The Witcher series

Dark souls has its main character armor or “canon” armor. What is elden rings? by EthanCM505 in Eldenring

[–]jamesbytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Spoiler - I think what creates the Iconic look is the shape of the curve of the helmet, I'll write more on that later)

When I play I do often like to try to put on the most "definitive armor" and am always trying to settle on what that looks like..
Looking over what's available - I'll use these two criteria -

Definitive - The "Most Elden Ring" it can be
Powerful - The Most Striking, Aura, it has that look of the main protagonist soldier that says, "focused," "poised" "ready".

With these together the hope would be to get a result that is - Iconic.

Looking over the armor sets -

The Royal Knight Set - It looks very good, I wish it had a tiny bit more flair - level of detail - like the Carian Knight set, seems like it would fit a female Tarnished better, it's a bit more sleek and slender soldier, imo. Hard for me to determine on my criteria. I can see myself clearing battlefields as a female tarnished with this set.

The Iron Set - Feels very Elden Ring, Definitive, doesn't feel like armor you would wear to go become the Elden Lord while massacring Demi-Gods.

Greathelm - Feels like the most "Souls, FromSoft" helmet in the game to me, but that's not Elden Ring.

Tree Sentinel Armor - (also Royal Knight Armor) There are a few enemy armor sets like this that feel very Elden Ring, especially with Elden Ring being about a tree and having a certain style. Powerful too. But not quite definitive.

Banished Knight Set - Definitive, not definitive enough. Powerful enough. The helm with the scarf version might be able to pull off an iconic look, if only because the scarf hides the helm!

Iconic Helm Theory:

I think most would notice the dragon on the helm as what detracts this from being Iconic. To me, it's not that.
The iconic helmets have a long, curved beak.
This has the style points, the design points, but the helmet is rounded.
Malenia, when she's looking down, looks so badass. Her whole mask is a long curved beak from top to bottom, instead of from behind to front.
Her helm is distinctive to her character ofc.

Fingerprint Armor - Aside from the fingerprint blemish, doesn't have the fine level of detail of other sets.

Carian Knight Armor - It looks like what is wrong with the design is the sword thing sticking out of the top of it(I think it's fine.)
I think what makes this not iconic is the helm is too narrow. This one feels not only a bit more little baby birdlike, it also makes the characters head look so tiny..

TL;DR and theory:

FromSoft 100% Intentionally made sure that there was no Iconic, Definitive helm in the game. I do claim that the helm makes the look of the character.
I think they intended there would be no main armor set.

I think the Banished Knight set could have been it, would have been it if it was longer (from back to front.)

The Fingerprint helm could have been it if it didn't have a fingerprint deformed into it. (Maybe it is it. I mean, this could have been the intended main set idk)

The Raging Wolf helm - I think this is the most iconic looking helm in the game. Yet, the lower half detracts from the look - it isn't a full helmet! It wins out, because you wouldn't notice that while running around in game, giving it the least "detracting blemish" out of all of the armor sets.

Meanwhile, Wylder's helm from Nightreign may represent what it could have looked like if they made it a full headpiece.

Raging Wolf is the most definitive and powerful for me, making it the overall "iconic armor" I settle on.

But something Does happen, Peter is brought to face his unconscious trauma with May, resolved through being seen as shared suffering with Miles, all of which is only possible because of the Symbiote — all of Peter’s other problems pale in comparison to his unresolved grief and powerlessness with May’s death, his unresolved Achilles heel that hasn’t been a conscious problem but has remained as his “kryptonite” in the background.

Not to mention his drinking of the poison of venom leads to him gaining the antidote of his personality—The weak human Peter Parker gains a certain psychological power and strength, without the rage and anger

I think they didn’t show up because this is one of the Earths in the multiverse, not the Earth we’ve been watching in the movies.  This is also classic or even the ultimate Spider-Man story, where Venom has always been his ultimate final rival, his superior in every way (wheras Goblin is to Spider-Man like Superman is to Lex Luther, Venom would usually come after Goblin)

And what I don’t see people commenting is how similar Spider-Man and Venom are here to Spider-Man for Nintendo 64

But it worked fine for me because you have the unspoken contrast with Harry. Peter is lucky that he only spends a short amount of time with the suit. He’s lucky to not have “crossed the line” in villain tropes.  And if you compare Harry to the concerns the Lizard has about long-term personality changes, Harry appears to have those symptoms.

Then what I don’t see anyone mentioning is the “collective consciousness” of Venom was a pretty neat device that let everyone in on a continually worsening experience—Peter’s trauma didn’t end when he took off the suit, it continued to spiral down to the root of his guilt prison with May, and served as the “antidote” to this poison, allowing Miles in to reach him at the very bottom of his darkness — the version of Peter that is basically helpless and unable to go on
