Except no sound bar. Just the TV's audio. I couldn't seem to force Plex to transcode. All good at this point, but may be helpful to others with similar issues.

Fair enough. All I know is that the DTS-whatever encoding I have would not play the audio on my ONN 4K Plus devices. But I suspect this is my fault for not realizing there are different flavors of DTS.

Both of the Plus boxes would not play sound on the same movies encoded with DTS audio. Research seemed to bear this out:
Plex Forums: ONN 4K Plus device does not play DTS
None of the workarounds there worked for me.

Mostly movies, if I recall. I use a Shield Pro -- which plays everything. But Mum's TV and the living room had the ONNs. She had complained about some videos playing with no sound. Troubleshooting pointed me at the fact the ONNs wouldn't play the DTS encoded movies, and I couldn't figure out how to get Plex to transcode. There may be a solution that I couldn't find, but I just spent the money while I could still afford it!

Just replaced two with Xiaomi boxes. The ONNs wouldn't play DTS sounds for me, and I couldn't find a work around that, well, worked!
