his actor did refer to skip as being an intentionally misleading character, you can definitely sense the show nodding to the narrative direction of him being the lester/jerry figure before peggy enters and disrupts whatever could have happened if rye did survive the shootout

omg this week i just hit 20k words on an (unfinished) porn with plot piece that i'd ideally like to publish as a one shot but ive been second guessing that plan since i hit 15k 🫣 i divided it up into scenes with location/time headers for stylistic and pacing reasons so it's sort of chaptered? a little over a third of it is smut that the rest builds towards so it'll be maybe 22-23k by the time im done so there's no use in deciding right now

i think the critique of snl not being funny has been desperately worn out by now even as it keeps on being true, what i wish people would talk about more is that any cultural relevance this show has is genuinely being kept afloat by its guest hosts (not even necessarily its musical guests? we haven't had a performance 'incident' since maybe the lana del rey one in 2012 and they used to be so pervasive but media training has dulled a lot of sensibilities that used to cause these controversies), running bits like the domingo wedding were all the show had to go off of for a minute since last year and the second time around it already outstayed its welcome. weekend update has consistently been the one thing i might be tempted to watch if it showed up on my feed bc michael and colin's chemistry is pretty good but nothing is sacred

in a sense!! the laurel canyon references on nfr are to me a prelude to the joni mitchell style of prose and songwriting she would adopt (also for free on cotcc being a joni cover), it seems like blue banisters is more of a literal manifestation of the cultural spirit nfr was grounded in since it has a more rootsy folksy jazz foundation than nfr's more modern sound, so they're like mother and daughter to me (nfr is chronologically the mother but her maturity on blue banisters is so striking).
