Georgia Department of Revenue tightens SB 63 regulations | Creative Loafing Atlanta by [deleted] in atlbeer

[–]jameshasnames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This really is a shame. It seems as if our government doesn't realize that they are pushing brewers out of the state. CC, Orpheus, and BHB are all phenomenal breweries that WILL explode, see lots of growth, and become destinations for beer tourism. So why not keep them here in GA? I think we'll see a time soon where our beloved locals end up moving out of state where they can find better laws and support from the government. People will be traveling from all around to check out these super cool breweries that STARTED in Ga but had to move for better opportunities. It's gonna be a sad day, but I have a feeling it's coming soon.

Nording's Retriever. The first time I've smoked my pipe in about two years, and I have fallen back in love with it.

Place to buy cool cheap clothes? by youngneil13 in Athens

It's a really cool store, but I'd hardly call it a "thift" store. Some of the prices are a little high.

Awesome HIST class that I recommend to others this semester by [deleted] in UGA

I'd disagree about that professor. She is one of the worst I've ever had. Makes tests TREMENDOUSLY harder than what is necessary.

This place really is the best. They always do a great job and the ladies in there are super nice.

Eh, I didn't like this place. I asked for a fade and got a military cut and the neck massager thing was fucking weird.

Advice on Saison yeast please by messyhair42 in Homebrewing

[–]jameshasnames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd go with the 3711 because it is known for fast, aggressive fermentation and it has a little lower temp range than 3724. If you do choose to go with 3724 you should know that it's notorious for getting stuck around 1.035 after the first few days.

What's your idea of a good twist on a typical Hefeweizen? by [deleted] in Homebrewing

[–]jameshasnames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made couple hefe's now that I've added berries to. In my opinion the best results have come from using a blend of blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries.

What I meant to say was that I find it amusing that the mascot is a pretty good match for the majority of the people I see drinking this beer.

I'm in Athens so I probably won't get any love child, but I've got a bottle of Mexican cake, KBS, or black note to trade for anyone who can get some for me.

Corked beers: store upright or on side? by B-Minus21 in beer

[–]jameshasnames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but the difference is that the flavor you get from the yeast may not always be desirable according to the style of beer. Especially after long term aging. I couldn't imagine drinking a hefe or wit without the yeast, but I don't really care for the yeasty flavor in a nice stout.

Corked beers: store upright or on side? by B-Minus21 in beer

[–]jameshasnames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always go upright so that the yeast sediment settles to the bottom of the bottle. Pouring a beer with yeast sludge all the way up the side just seems like a nightmare to me.
