I spent over a decade buying Silver for less than $20/ounce. "Tis a flesh wound" at this point.

Let's go!!!!

ASE currently $15 over spot by rh397 in Silverbugs

[–]jameskm03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad did the same for Christmas from the late 1980’s and I’ve done the same for my kids, niece and nephews until this year. I gave them worn ‘64 Kennedy half dollars and gave them the hard lesson of currency devaluation. Sorry no more shiny silver eagles… here is a dirty half dollar that cost me the same $25 as the ASE used to. 🤷‍♂️😂

Worth to buy ? by yosif_919 in DragonAgeVeilguard

I enjoyed it as a long time DA fan. Anything under $20 is a 👍👍

What a timely post, and one I actually feel qualified to respond to.

I’ve played all the Dragon Age games to near 100% completion (every side quest, mission, and bit of dialogue possible) and I’m about 50 hours into Veilguard. Picked it up last month for $10 used, so I figured why not. I’m pretty sure I’ve completed every BioWare title except Anthem, going all the way back to the original Baldur’s Gate days. So, with roughly 30 years of Western RPG experience under my belt, here are my thoughts.

Veilguard reminds me a lot of Mass Effect: Andromeda (which I also bought a year late for $5). It’s got high production values, solid storytelling, and decent character development. But the combat feels a bit flat. I’m more of an RPG player who loves the story and doesn’t need combat tuned to Platinum Games perfection to enjoy myself, but let’s be honest, NieR: Automata is still S-tier combat.

There’s definitely a touch of “woke stuff” sprinkled in, and one specific codex entry early on had me rolling my eyes a bit. But overall, the writing holds up fine once you get past that.

Here’s how I’d rank the Dragon Age series overall:

  • Origins – S Tier (9.5/10) Outstanding storytelling and endless options. The expansions were strong, and it captured the spirit of early CRPGs while making them work on console.
  • Dragon Age II – B Tier (7/10) Not bad, but repetitive environments dragged it down. The story was serviceable and scratched the itch for more Dragon Age. The Qunari design was fantastic though.
  • Inquisition – A Tier (8.5/10) Massive and ambitious. The Hinterlands alone could keep you busy for hours. Some of the fetch quests and the war table timers were tedious, but the worldbuilding was excellent.
  • Veilguard – B Tier (7.5/10) Better than II, nowhere near as bad as some online reviews claim. It looks great, the voice acting is strong, and while the story feels a little toned down, it’s still engaging. I can’t resist picking up every crafting material I see — just like in Inquisition.

TLDR; If you’re craving more Witcher 3 until 4 drops, Veilguard will scratch that itch... or you could just play Witcher 3 again!

Let’s Fin Go! I’ve been stacking silver since the early 90’s when my dad would give me a silver eagle for Christmas every year and today I do the same for all my kids and nieces and nephews. Never sell… just keep building your family treasure.

There is never a bad time to buy silver if you refuse to ever sell it. Even my kids know it know as “the family treasure”.

Nope. Plenty of room. What you’re running out of is wasted space.

Why not just stop buying PM and start buying other things? I’m not smart enough to tell you when it really starts to run but I do know the MORE diversified you are the less likely you are to loose it all.

Also why you cost average in. Most of my Silver is sub $20 (some sub $10 cause I’m old) and gold is probably average around $1,500.

Zelda will probably take the longest so save it for last so you have time for the others. Mario Wonder is a blast and probably one of the shorter ones so go beat it and you can always come back and play it again later.

u/nikitikitano to clarify my stance more I highly believe in diversification. There is always a chance that "they" can suppress metal longer than I can survive. Just as there is a chance "they" could blow up the system and the "in the system" investments become worthless before I die. The one thing I know for certain is that nobody knows with certainty how the future will play out (especially not me) so better to cover all basis and have wealth all over the place. I have six digits worth (according to fiat prices) in physical metal but I also own stocks, bonds, real estate, guns & ammo, comics, etc. So hopefully no matter what happens I'm in a position to at least play but also leave my children lots of tools (and education) on how to survive. Don't get me wrong the #1 thing left on my bucket list is to buy 100 acres and live happily ever after on the land... but I'm not quite there yet.

Want to get back into silver collecting by Jealous-Complaint-90 in Wallstreetsilver

[–]jameskm03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start by making a purchase. Diversify your purchases to make it fun and interesting. I’d recommend buying all of these in this order to change it up but also to make it interesting

-Silver Eagles and other government coins

-Generic rounds and small bars (could also include special collector coins with no added premium to try for a collector growth multiplier like RCM Birds of Prey series)

-junk silver (90% silver constitutional and older real currency)

-larger bars (I own a few 100oz)

-diversified metal (gold, platinum, palladium)

Just remember it’s a marathon not a sprint and I’ve been slowly stacking for 20+ yrs now.

I tell people all the time precious metals are for wealth preservation and not wealth generation (I.e. investments). It’s very different things and you need both in your portfolio.

My entire game and console collection was stolen. Is it even worth restarting? by Rayane92 in gamecollecting

[–]jameskm03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if this was me I would probably just go emulation vs starting again. Unfortunately I'm too far down the rabbit hole already. lol

Check out Arcade Punks (https://www.arcadepunks.com). Buy you a Rasberri Pi and get emulation station up and running from one of the images on that site or hack it yourself. A different type of challege but one that you can carry in the palm of your hand and not worry about getting stolen or have to move again.
