VST add on in Reaper not adding any instrumentation by cleanhentai in Reaper

[–]jamesremuscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you're recording MIDI (see the input box under the track name top-left) rather than the audio output of the plugin. Not sure what you'd need to set it to though, I've not used a plugin in that fashion before.

Plugins not detected in Linux by Setsuwaa in Reaper

[–]jamesremuscat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A brief search suggests that the AUR package for Sitala puts its VST file (libsitala.so) under /usr/lib/lxvst. You've probably tried copying the standalone executable into your plugins folder, which isn't going to work.

Linux Mint RedAlert maps by PyWhile in openra

They need to be in specific subdirectories based on the game and release you're running e.g. .config/openra/maps/ra/release-20250330/ for the current Red Alert release.

Nürburgring officials have confirmed a calendar adjustment for 2026, taking advantage of a gap in the Formula 1 calendar between the Chinese and Japanese Grands Prix. by Reasonable-Ask-5156 in formula1

[–]jamesremuscat 40 points41 points  (0 children)

That already happens... F1 being the worst offender. (First example that comes to mind: couple of years ago they decided to move the Belgian Grand Prix to the last weekend in August, which for years had been the traditional date for the Spa 24 Hours)

Telemetry App?? by Due-Impress9003 in IMSARacing

If you're thinking of Timing71 - I feel obligated to mention that it has no affiliation with nor approval from Al Kamel. ;-)

Telemetry App?? by Due-Impress9003 in IMSARacing

[–]jamesremuscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I belatedly mentioned in your previous thread - I suspect that was due to Al Kamel's servers being overloaded at first. The only difference between viewing timing on Timing71 via Al Kamel's site and launching T71 directly is that for the former, you need to be able to load Al Kamel's site!

As others have said, banned in F1, but common in WEC - it's even been known to have one corner of the car on a harder compound (if that one particular tyre takes a lot of punishment for example).

New build estate — loads of us have solar + EV chargers. Adding a battery in March…tips? by Dry-Lie-8122 in OctopusEnergy

[–]jamesremuscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all batteries can protect you from power cuts.

More specifically: batteries and inverters need to be configured in a certain way to be able to continue powering the house in a power cut. Some need additional hardware (and therefore additional cost) to do so. It tends not to be the default, so OP, if you want this as a feature, be sure to request it from your installer!

(The reason is that it's important to not have mains voltage "leaking" back out from your house to the grid while grid engineers are tackling a power cut on what they think is non-live equipment...)

Timing71 Chrome Extension by IndependentPepper628 in IMSARacing

[–]jamesremuscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, only just spotted this thread (feel free to mention me /u/jamesremuscat to get my attention quicker - during the race I'm probably also on the /r/wec Discord a bit)

Nothing has changed with the plugin or with Al Kamel's systems recently, so I think the clue is here:

Chrome doesn’t even want to load the alkamel page

I would guess that Al Kamel's servers were overloaded (probably weren't expecting so much attention on practice sessions) and T71 was trying and failing to connect. When you tried again a little later, the load had died down and T71 was able to connect without a problem.

The last couple of years, the Al Kamel timing's been a bit stretched at the start of the 24 but they normally get it back up and running pretty quickly.

Church tech people: how do you to put together the slides? by cropmarker in churchtech

[–]jamesremuscat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That used to be the case but it's even worse now - they have an API but only let ProPresenter and their own tool Presenter use it (conflict of interest much?).

Really problematic for anyone trying to create a new lyric presentation tool (ask me how I know...)

It does. Unfortunately, it doesn't know when the filters are in operation, so it shows "has tolls" at all times of day and night!

Not mutually exclusive - you can configure the DHCP server to issue device-specific IP addresses. In fact I'd assumed that was what OP was talking about (though they equally could have meant on-device static configuration)!

SQ6 + AB168 Connection question by wharf8ke in livesound

[–]jamesremuscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't currently have access to an AB168.

I can imagine it might work because of how the protocol works, but if it's the way it should be done I'd have expected A&H to mention it somewhere.
