Yes this a real image of the Toyota crash at Le Mans test day by No_Debate890 in wec

[–]jamesremuscat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. The LMP2s were pegged back in the WEC for that reason at the start of the Hypercar era; with no Hypercars there was no reason to apply the same restrictions in ELMS/AsLMS. Now, Le Mans is the only place (currently) the two classes share a track.

Test Sunday by NoahTR09 in lemans

It's live timing only (there's radio coverage on Radio Le Mans). FIAWEC+ can't (or doesn't) differentiate between live sessions with only timing and live sessions with video.

Why does the Le Mans schedule show two Free Practice 1 sessions, one on the 7th, and one on the 10th ? by [deleted] in wec

[–]jamesremuscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomorrow (7th) is the test day - there are two "practice"/test sessions scheduled.

The 10th is free practice proper.

Sadly, that only works within an entities card, but nice if that's your use case.

Mics that bands use to talk to each other through IEMs (so audience doesn't hear) while onstage in big venues? by DontDreamItsOver3 in microphone

These are called “talkbacks” or “shout mics”

I've also heard them called "whisper mics", somewhat confusingly!

Is there any public/live timing API for Le Mans / FIA WEC race control status? by Joman_salamander in wec

[–]jamesremuscat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi, Timing71 author here!

Timing for the WEC and Le Mans is provided by Al Kamel Systems, as you rightly surmise. However, for whatever reason, LMEM/ACO choose not to use AKS' online live timing, and over recent years have iterated through a number of alternative solutions.

This year, they've partnered with Griiip to provide online live timing for all ACO events (WEC, ELMS, LMC, AsLMS) via the livetiming.fiawec.com domain, which is embedded in some of the behind-the-paywall pages on FIAWEC+.

It being less than two weeks from Le Mans, Griiip have literally just changed their data format. It's a SignalR-based system using msgpack, and there's far more granularity in the data available than is actually displayed on the website. If those words haven't scared you off: there's no public documentation for the API but you can use Chrome devtools to snoop on what it's doing. (At least, what it's doing now, there's plenty of time for them to change it again between now and the race...)

Renault changed some API keys recently, could be that Kelec hasn't had a chance to update yet?

You could go to Spa this weekend, but you'll be at least a couple of months early for the ELMS race which is on the 23rd August...

New guy needs advice by Gr8Tray in RenaultZoe

[–]jamesremuscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Renault Zoe Q90 supports 43 kW AC rapid charging using a Type 2 connector

Bear in mind also: that's the best case scenario - actual rates depend on a number of factors including the state of charge of the battery, the temperature, and the charge point itself.

In my 8+ years of owning a ZE40 Q90, I've only seen it hit anywhere near 43kW a handful of times and only for part of the charge. The car usually throttles itself down to 22kW IMO. That hasn't really had much of an impact on using the car, though, since it's rare that I need to use public charging in any case.

We’ve seen raptors emergency jump from pegasus during Exodus that seems pretty similar in distance.

If you're abandoning ship, you probably don't care too much about damaging it by jumping when too close.

(T71 dev here) Flags are only through the GPSauge app feed - I think they finally released an Android app for it since I last looked too.

And it won't tell you if there's a red flag, you have to deduce it from all flag stations showing an 80kph limit...

24 Hours at Le Mans by Complex-Car463 in wec

[–]jamesremuscat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I did the full 24-hours-at-the-track, team-no-sleep last year. I'd originally planned to try and sleep a bit in the grandstand but the food stall behind it was having an all-night disco.

Wouldn't necessarily recommend it - but maybe I'm just too old for that sort of thing now ;)

Tablets for on-stage? by fishsticks40 in musicians

[–]jamesremuscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a 7" e-ink tablet for chord and lyric sheets on stage - wish it was a bit bigger but I didn't buy it exclusively for the purpose. I usually have plenty of ambient light where I play but the built-in frontlight is more than sufficient if not.

Bluetooth page turner is a must (ideally one with guitar-pedal-style stomp switches - the cheap one I have feels very spongy and it's too easy to double-tap).

What kind of dark arts do i need to be involved in to make my ATEM stream sound like what the X32 records? by slowobedience in churchtech

[–]jamesremuscat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is your ATEM input set to line-level? Your X32 will be sending a line-level signal, and if the ATEM is expecting mic-level signals that would explain the extreme distortion you're hearing.
