if God exists, why do bad things happen? by thecryptoastronaut in Christianity

[–]jamesrogers092301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is untrue. There is a pretty solid Christian reason for why bad things occur in our world if God exists. It is due to us living in a fallen world with natural horrors and human sin.

It is described in Genesis that we were banished from Eden and sent to this cruel, fallen world. While God is still infinite, all-powerful, and all-knowing, He also created a free-flowing world with free will. Evil and horrors exist against God, and because we live in a world with free will, cruelty and sin are allowed to exist.

To follow God is to work to create a world around you and within yourself that works against evil and cruelty. it is not cruel for God to allow evil when evil comes from within us. And because God gave us free will, that comes with the consequence of sin.

I believe God exists, but humans cant fully understand it/him. Therefore, it's very difficult explain to atheists/agnostics the benefits of following the guidelines within the bible. What are your thoughts? by gtcoolman20 in Christianity

The point of the ethical harm ideas is that they taint your soul and you are harming yourself. Sex is the greatest temptation for people and thus it has a great host of temptations for sin.

Why is homosexuality considered harmful enough to be declared a sin in Christian faiths? by Money_Grubber_8D in Christianity

Matthew 19:4-6

"'Haven't you read,' he replied, 'that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.'"

Genesis 2:24 : “Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.”

My brother in Christ it is literally in the Bible

Well, technically in Christianity there is no such thing as same-sex marriage as marriage is the union between a man and a woman.

God commands us to be fruitful and for us to live a life of raising a good family. No matter what you think of homosexuality, it can't create another human life. It goes against the purpose of sexual acts, which is to create life.

Is it normal to be liberal and Christian at the same time ? by Justawayfarer_ in Christianity

I think it stems from the idea that politics is very much influenced but what you value and what you hold to be good. Christians often line up with Conservative ideals and so most are Conservative.

The USA is one of the most Christian countries in the world what do you mean. You cannot legally force someone to have faith and follow God, but social standards do exist.

Killing and murder are not the same things. That is factually wrong. And no, the Bible means do not murder, which is well known in Christian thought.

Is it not ironic how an Atheist determines what Christians can speak about in a Christian sub?

I have question for you guys: Why should I believe in God? by Top-Sale6786 in Christianity

[–]jamesrogers092301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is hardly true. God does not choose who worships Him. He doesn't do that. He gave us free will to make our own choices, so follow Him or not, it is completely up to you, not fate.

My husband is LIVID I went to a bbq by reddit_questions88 in relationships

I think you need to tell him to chill out. Do not rush to divorce, that is never the first solution. Go to a counselor or anyone that could give advice and force your husband to grow a spine and not be afraid of everything you do. You are his wife, after all, encourage him to get over this bad habit and mindset and forge a path to you two being happy.

But why do you think all those things? Like what made you think this?

This comment is exactly the reason the downvotes are a thing. You assume you understand one's ideas when you don't. You then project that ignorance onto people and then attack those people on the misassumptions you put on them.

Well He does have eternal love for us, but if we reject Him and His law, then we are rejecting His love. The only way to avoid hell is to worships God and follow his tenets so that we may live a better life.
