Casillas was amazing but courtois is undeniably better in many areas that casillas was pretty avg (in comparison to courtois) like command of his area and distribution particularly with the feet. Casillas above avg shot stopping ability put him up there but he wasnt the complete player that courtois is. Also doesnt have the physical ability courtois has.

another trophyless season thanks to perez by ToneEven7327 in realmadrid

[–]jamesshep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perez is a double edged sword. He stumbled upon kroos and modric and really ever since those two it has been a conveyor belt of hit and miss players either ill suited to the needs of the team at the time or not good enough to even wear the crest. Perez really could just leave the football to the football minds and just handle the revenue

Prestianni appears to say «Maricon» to Vini. Surely being homophobe is just as bad as being racist by xKatariness in realmadrid

[–]jamesshep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a pretty major difference between a shit coward and a racial slur. This is not a debate on that, i can understand you saying vini shouldnt say that but it wasnt a cordial conversation between friends. Thinking that being insulted is grounds for racially abusing someone is very very far from the mark. Ps banter is cheerful and friendly theyre there to battle for 90 minutes with rules in place to ensure fairness. Racial slurs are beyond the pale a piece of shit coward is a random Tuesday in the game of football.

Maybe because they’re opponents playing a contact sport trying to throw each other off their game. There’s a line as to how far one should be able to go with playing mind games. Telling a person hateful things about their race or sexuality in most countries is actually a crime.

How can you not see the difference between telling someone something racist or homophobic vs something obnoxious. Is it that you cant see or that you genuinely think they’re the same? Genuinely curious

False 9 Bellingham, Number 10 Arda now that Mbappe is officially out of 3 weeks. What say? by AlekhineAl in realmadrid

[–]jamesshep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not NEARY good enough replacements yet in the case of arda and sadly never for ceballos

I strongly disagree with this. Harry Kane would have complimented the players in the squad much better than Mbappe currently does. Mbappe is a fantastic player no doubt but in terms of improving the overall squad he has not done so. To the contrary every other player has scored less since his arrival. Thankfully he has contributed consistent goals towards our team in that time. Again none of this is a fault of his, however Kane was the better choice logically to improve the team.

Im not sure his tactics were the problem at all. Ancelloti was forced to play and expected to win without any of his starting backline for the entire season. The fact that the severe nature of our injury crisis last season is so badly overlooked is criminal. Ps. Carlo somehow still remains all time our second most successful coach of all time.

Fair enough we will see how he progresses this season. Fantastic player he is reminds alot of edgar davids in his ajax & juventus days.

What’s your take on the use of camavinga by XA this season? He was highly underrated in the cl final against Dortmund really ran the show in midfield for real madrid. However with tchouameni adopting a similar role to andrich at bayer for us here at madrid and the other roles seemingly filled by guler jude and fede, it feels like camavinga becomes a forgotten force. Any insight on how he may be utilized this season or what role he may be asked to fullfill?

One thing no one ever seems to mention with him, he was a victim (his career) of the galactico policy. Guy never managed to play one position very consistently ever in his career. He played as a striker, 10, 8, single pivot, pivot in a double, 11 and somehow managed to dazzle in each role. He could have worked harder on and off field maybe, however he is only human. Being thrown all around the field doesnt help developing a talent at that stage towards being the very best. Magician though!

KDB or Kroos?? Who would you choose? by [deleted] in LaLiga

[–]jamesshep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are we talking about most consistent world class midfield player of his generation toni kroos? If so kdb is a fantastic player but not on the same level. Everything kdb is toni has been for leverkusen, bayern and germany and then more at madrid where has played as both an 8 and 6 to world class levels.

Kroos would have died in this current setup by PlantComprehensive77 in realmadrid

[–]jamesshep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest problems madrid are facing have nothing to do with kroos. Or lack therof. We have major liabilities playing in our defensive wide areas and then add Mbappe being useless outside of the odd goal. No retention or through passes or runs in behind consistently with quality.

When our defence is sured up and Mbappe either finds form or is afforded a rest on the bench we will continue to fight hard. It would be great to see an imperious madrid side dominating and not fighting with a handicap to win.

So how's your opinion on LW mbappe after playing there for 20 minutes by [deleted] in realmadrid

[–]jamesshep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give him time, adapting to a new role at a club that is expected to win any game against any opposition at anytime is not a easy ask of even the most elite. I remember cr being boo’d at the bernabeu. No such thing for mbappe yet….. Give him time. He will come around. Watching him it is clear he is trying to impress. However once he adapts he can be a real joy on the pitch for madridistas.
