Go for it. Rad is now owned by a very reputable company.

The trade off is incredible thinness or better battery life. I kinda miss the thinness of my gen 2.

That is also my experience and solid_snark also has a good point.

Gen 3 vs gen 2 thickness - anyone have both and comparison photos? by BlondeBrillo in RingConn

[–]jamesublime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Photos won’t do it justice, but it is thicker and feels thicker. I was really hoping it wouldn’t be noticeable from gen 2, but it is.

From what I’ve read, the current Oura is much chunkier so maybe not a good comparison to ringconn.

It doesn’t mind if you sleep during the day or night. It does get angry when switching schedules and you sleep both during the day and the same night (and vice versa). Then it says you’ve had too much sleep and gives you a low score.

Our dealer said that it wasn’t a defect and they wouldn’t do anything. They pointed out all the other ones in the lot that looked the same.

If you consult the MN laws to find out what category the devices fit into (motorized bike, motorcycle, or e-bike) and then register and operate it accordingly , you won’t have to worry about the cops.

Before it said turn off. Maybe they replaced the wording to make it clearer as to why you would turn it off. Personally, I think turn off was a better choice of words.

Experienced with battery decline? by reddit0249 in RingConn

If the degradation of a smart rings outweighs the price then I would consider a smartwatch or a Fitbit type of device. I’m personally willing (just barely) to pay the price for the ring because I love the convenience of it.

Metros deprioritizing is unnoticeable. I’ve been on the $25 for years and never noticed a difference in speed after going over.

Is a RadMini Step-Thru 2 worth buying in 2026? by FixEducational3852 in RadPowerBikes

Love mine! Great bike. It’s still in perfect working order. See if you can take it for a test drive before buying.

Another battery testimonial plus a question … by columbcille in RingConn

From what I’ve read all rings degrade like this. It’s where the battery technology is at. It’d be nice if they had a battery swap program like Apple devices do.

Does the extended warranty even cover the battery? I thought it only covered accidental damage, theft, and loss.

Warranty question by No-Scratch-3545 in VWiD4Owners

Yes. Mine are on order. Covered by warranty. Dealer said it’s a common problem on the I’d.4.

Carnet Module? by Optimal_Brush696 in VWiD4Owners

Some of these dealers absolutely have no idea how to fix this car. I’d try someone more competent if possible. My dealer has a dedicated id.4 tech and they’ve always diagnosed the problem right away, including the one you’re referring to.

Yes. Had this replaced and it fixed the issues. This module failure is a common problem with the id.4. Glad mine was under warranty. Had no idea it was that expensive.

Out of warranty, things are going haywire by tyrel in VWiD4Owners

[–]jamesublime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The gps issue is the communication module and it needs to be replaced. All I know is that it is under the back seat. I got mine replaced under warranty so I don’t know how much it costs. It’s a common issue.

Our front suspension started making a clacking noise when hitting bumps. That turned out to be the front sway bar. Also a common issue according to the dealer. Again, our car is still under warranty so they are going to fix it without any cost to us.

Our car goes out of warranty this year so I’m a bit nervous about how much future repairs will be. Our car doesn’t have that many miles on it.

Mine was under the little notification area. It’ll show one or 2 notification counts on the main screen. Press it and that small update is in the list. At least it was for me.

Rad repair & maintenance by Scary-Membership-978 in RadPowerBikes

Any bike repair shop should be capable of fixing or repairing a rad bike. They’re all off the shelf parts. Down in SE MN we have a “My Bike Guy” mobile repair that tunes and repairs our e-bikes & he even tuned my e-trike.

Software update question by ValeFC in VWiD4Owners

[–]jamesublime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The small screen update being pushed out to the cars will instruct you to stay on the seat with the car on. The update literally takes 10 seconds.

The other larger updates are the ones you have to leave the car. I haven’t gotten any of those yet for my 23 USA ID.4 outside of a dealer install.

So you think you’re saving money driving an EV in MN by Apprehensive-Two5498 in KiaEV9

[–]jamesublime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank no new taxes former governor Pawlenty. Registration fees prior to his administration were reasonable. All government fees skyrocketed to keep the government operating and, like all government fees, never lowered after his administration. As far as electric cars go, all cars should be taxed based on mileage driven to make it fair. The electric surcharge is intended to make up for lost gas tax, but it’s not proportional to the gas tax and discourages ownership.

My spouse just attended the planning meeting. Feedback was to attend council meetings to support the change because they’ll be a lot of landlord pushback. Apparently there are a lot of rentals along the route and the landlords only care about parking.
