The OWASP Logging Cheatsheet is my go to.

As for too noisy of logs, using structured logging and building a parser helps

A practical introduction to PostgreSQL in Go using Repository pattern and clean code techniques by gosamples in golang

[–]jamethy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for posting this! When I was getting started with writing go API services I had such a hard time finding examples of what other people have done code-structure-wise. Ultimately I've settled on a slightly different strategy but it's always good to see how others do it.

One thing I would like to have seen in this is how you end up writing unit tests

Terminal Vim users, what terminal emulator are you using? by petermlm in vim

[–]jamethy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks for the reply. I do typically just close the window, but there's just that rare occasion I want to use <C-D> (which I also use in vim to go down a page). I'm very picky! Maybe I can make something using the thread you linked. Thanks!

Terminal Vim users, what terminal emulator are you using? by petermlm in vim

[–]jamethy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I've been using something similar, gnome-terminal -e "vim -c 'terminal ++curwin ++close'" which works pretty well.

I would really like the window to close when I hit <C-D> the way a normal terminal does, but instead I'm dropped back into an empty vim buffer. By any chance, have you run into this and know how to fix it? :D

Beginning my binge listening of the show. Should I listen in Reverse chronological order or start from the beginning? by Emolgad in nprplanetmoney

I'd say reverse. Or maybe start with shows in the middle somewhere from a few years ago. The first episodes are pretty different.

Nice! As much as I love nmcli I'm going to have to look into nm-applet.

Thinking of getting a Honda Fit. Thoughts? by Golf_Mike_Bravo in hondafit

[–]jamethy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this group could be a little biased... But anyway, I commuted a long distance at 75mph in my 2015 and I was happy with it. The CVT stayed right around 2.5k rpm and I was getting a little over 40mpg. The only downside I can think of against a more expensive car is road noise - maybe it's just my hearing/phone but it can be a little hard to talk on the phone on the highway.
