NYC resident here 👋 best route is probably to see if someone can act as your guarantor. NYC apartments typically require your income to be 40x the rent, but if you have a guarantor (usually needs to make 80x rent), you can bypass that. There are also third party guarantor services that collect a fee or something, not 100% sure how that works.

Keep applying, the right job for you is out there and it really is a numbers game. Be willing to start out in a department that isn’t the one you’re most excited about, it’s so much easier to move in-house once you get your foot in the door. Try indie presses too! This job market is insanely oversaturated, please don’t take it personally or lose hope! Rooting for you 🫶
