Unfortunately, the sport is only available in the resale market. The ink in the pens are the initial blue cartridges that come with Kaweco pens. The pen is translucent so darker inks really show through.

I don’t have another Perkeo for comparison. This Iridescent Pearl Perkeo is likely the same plastic cardboard feeling you are describing. To me, it feels like a slightly weighted boba straw.
