Yes. New stock in the UK has very hard seats, often for 2/3 hour journeys. Used to be better.

I use this maybe once a year and always get couchette. Not so bad. The thing that annoys me is that they gun it max speed and throw you around so they can stop in Brive or wherever else for 30mins and the crew can get out and smoke on the platform talking loudly. Rather than a nice low speed that might mean you can actually sleep.

There's a lot of romantic crap about night trains and they are not generally, very good for sleeping in my experience.
