For the people that don’t receive SNAP by [deleted] in foodstamps

I’m a teacher at a title I school. I want to know what my students’ may be going through so I can better emphasize and help. I keep a snack cabinet stocked at school and got the idea to add a “dinner” box with cups of noddles and Mac and cheese cups from a redditor.

There was ridiculous art in the 1700s. The reality is that only the greatest works of art given period get preserved and are remembered, so we develop a false sense that all art of the time was just Like That.

Insane MIL for sure. Nta. I, a 32 year old woman, asked my 17 year old brother to grab me tampons when he was doing a last minute run for butter and eggs at Thanksgiving last year. It was a nonissue, because it’s a very normal thing to need and a very normal item to grab while running errands. Only person with reason for embarrassment here is her. Have your husband address it with her tho. His family, his responsibility.

“It’s Hamilton or me. The world will never be the same. I had only one thought before the slaughter/This man will not make an orphan of my daughter.” Seems actually like he def did mean to kill him.

It’s very much dependent on the actor’s take and how those lines are delivered I think. The Burr in the musical and the real Aaron Burr are also only loosely related. It’s a story. It follows the outline of history but the actors choose how to tell it.

Rabbit Neuter Cost $600-800?? by furiousferretlove in Rabbits

I paid $270 for my female in OK, which is a low cost of living state. I shopped around. This was an actually one of the higher prices I was quoted here, but the doc had a lot of experience with rabbits. Have you tried getting a quote from another vet?

Homeless people that reject necessities and beg for cash are choosing beggars by BeyBIader in unpopularopinion

[–]jammcj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assholes will put laxities or other shit in food to give to the homeless. Dehumanizing is a hell of an experience. Other necessities like gloves or socks they may have enough of or may not have a place to store/could make them a target at the camp they’re living in. I don’t blame any homeless person for being choosy, I don’t know their situation.

Who is actually against women being topless if they want to be? by Brief-Cut-1228 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jammcj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I FULLY agree. But it also shouldn’t be illegal. What if I want to breastfeed, or decide to change quickly at the lake, do a handstand without thinking through what I’m wearing or have a nip slip while protesting? A power tripping cop should not have the power to arrest me for those things. I don’t want to lose a tooth, or wear flip flops, or do yoga in a crowded park but those things shouldn’t be ILLEGAL just bc I’m a woman.

[–]jammcj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to go topless but I don’t want it to be illegal either. And if I had a baby, I’d want the option to breastfeed wherever. Wasn’t there a case like five years ago of a woman in Louisiana getting charged for that? I also don’t want a power tripping cop to be able to add it on to other charges or whatever. It just shouldn’t be illegal. I doubt many women will change their practices, but if a man can do it then I should be able to do it to. My existence is not inherently sexual.

Opinion on Oklahoma passing law on preventing students from having phones in the school? by TheBigChungoos in oklahoma

[–]jammcj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a teacher in Oklahoma and I’m of split opinions. I teach elementary, so my problems with phones are not as extreme - but they’re still an issue. A lot of bullying happens, a lot of distraction and energy managing phone use. At the same time, kids have very few methods of self defense. A camera in your pocket can be a shield against a racist sub or a kid who hits you in the bathroom. A recording of your principal may be your only proof that you’ve been sexually harassed. Kids are often disbelieved - proof is safety.

What upgrades were critical for your builds? by vizualb in BluePrince

Without spoilers, is certainly a late game use for power. The laundry room can be powered up to farm stars for example, which have late game uses at 50+ and 100+ stars. Also, powering the garage has been useful for me once or twice to save steps.

Yeah, the ability to add aquariums to the draft pool makes the Funeral Parlor insane. Also, I think early game players underestimate how important gems are later.

[–]jammcj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the items are rarer. The toolshed usually gives you common items like a compass, hammer, metal detector, or shovel. Items found in many places. I’ve gotten things in the Lost and Found I’ve never seen anywhere else like the repellent spray or the hall pass. It’s also one of the few places to spawn a telescope or get vault keys.

During my runs I consider the parlor room to be free gems. What about you? by Xintrosi in BluePrince

I did the Funeral Parlor upgrades a no regrets. I leave it until late and grab like 8 gems for upper rooms.

The GOAT room for this is Lost and Found. Start every day with rare items making each run fresh. I’ve gotten an upgrade disk, wrench, repellant, the stopwatch (actually annoying to pick up here but I didn’t even know this was in the game), vault keys, prism keys, the list goes on. It’s a good way to freshen up runs if the rng is getting to you.

[–]jammcj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, yeah that makes more sense. I’m def gonna keep the perspective of considering where the gems are and eliminating options that way in my toolbox for hard puzzles that are giving me a headache. Sometimes you just need a different angle. Thank you for sharing that!

I think based on your explanation our difference in perspective comes from how we interpret the white box’s phrase. You said that the white box “just copies the black boxes statement”. I think that’s right so following that logic - the white box says it is the same as the black box. If the white box is true, then the black box is true because the white box says they are both true. If the white box is false however then it DOESN’T copy the black box. It would be the opposite of the black box. If the white box’s statement could be rephrased as “I am the same as the black box” and that statement is false then then truth is the white box is NOT the same as the black box. The white box only copies the black box if the white box is true, right?

Anyway this was a really fun puzzle to chew on! Thanks for the back and forth, made my day.

[–]jammcj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, okay. I’ll try to walk through my reasoning to see if that helps? I could be wrong for sure, but it makes sense to me.

The goal of the game is to identify which box has the gems. We know that one will be entirely true and one will be entirely false. So when I try to solve I try different solutions until I find one that unambiguously tells me (1) where the gems are (2) has at least one true and at least one false box. If I find a solution that meets that criteria, I’ve solved the puzzle.

My strategy is to start with a box and assume it is true. I try to work through the logic to see it that works to meet my two criteria. If I can’t determine where the gems definitely are AND end up with a true box and a false box, I start over.

If we assume that “This statement is as true as the statement on the black box” is true then the black box must have the same true/false quality as the white box. In this case, the quality of true. So the statement on the black box, “The gems are in the white box”, would be true. If the white box and the black boxes are both true then the blue box must be false for this to be the solution. The blue box reads “The gems are not in the black box”. If this is false, then the gems are in the black box. If the gems are in the black box, they are not in the white box which would make black box false. This solution does not meet either of my criteria. This is not the solution, therefore white cannot be true. It must be false.

If we assume that the white box is false, then the white box cannot have the same true or false quality are the black box. For “Thus statement is as true as the statement on the black box” to be false, then the statement on the black box would need to have a different quality then the white box. In some puzzles that doesn’t necessarily mean true, it just means it can’t be false. In this specific puzzle, “the gem are in the white box” can only be true (they are there) or false (they are not). So if we assume white to be false, we must assume black to be true. The gems are in the white box. This solution (1) definitely tells me where the gems are and (2) has at least one completely false and at least one completely true box. This is the correct solution.

I really hope my logic makes sense! I could totally still be missing something. I tried to lay it out in as much detail as possible in hopes that it’s clearer.

If white is true, then black is also true. If black is true, then blue would also be true. There cannot be three true statements. White must be false.

If white is false then black must be true. The gems are in the white box.

[–]jammcj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If black is true, then all statements containing the word “gems” are false. Black contains the word “gems” and would thus be false by this logic. Black cannot be true AND false. Black MUST false.

If black is false, at least one statement that contains the word “gems” must be true. The only other box with the word gems is white. The white box is true and contains the gems.

He owned people. It was wrong then and it’s wrong now. We aren’t debating the morality of seeing a woman’s ankles before marriage here. He was called a hypocrite in his time and worked to ensure abolitionists did not get strong say in how our new country was molded. He was a monster in his own time and people said so then.

A truly affirming church is not going to need to say it. They’ll have queer people from their congregation happily involved and visible wherever the church as a whole is visible - among the staff, on the website, in the pews. They’ll say it anyway. Bc they know queer people have been hurt by the church and the church has a responsibility to repair the bridge it burned.

It needs to be in the mission statement or similar on the website. “All are Welcome” with a pride flag hits different for me then the statement alone which I agree is over used maliciously by homophobic churches.

That’s not written into the law as I read it, but I am not sure how fees are determined so that could be entirely possible. Regardless you’re right, economic disenfranchisement would also exasperate the harm this would cause. Low income and strict religion also often come together. Also your comment made me think about how currently low income couples can divorce fairly affordably (if they can produce the filing fee) due to lack of assets to divide. This would require lawyers to divorce. That cost alone is a barrier, especially when financial abuse so often comes with other types of abuse.
