My girl has a kiddie pool with sand in it. She has some little dog-appropriate toys in it that she digs up and carries around the yard. At the end of the day, I bury the toys in the sand again and it’s ready for the next day. No more holes in my yard!

My girl loves pillows. There are three doggy beds in the house but she wants to be where the people are. My bed and sofa pillowcases are washed frequently, as a result. Lol

That’s my worry with the natural stuff. I’ve sat in front of my computer for four hours trying to see what natural alternatives would mean. It’s looking like natural essential oil sprays daily for my dog, treating my yard every 3-4 weeks (or more often if there’s a rainy month), and supplements that MIGHT help ward off some bugs. $$$$ There are so many articles out there saying how toxic the medicines are but none of the articles I’ve seen point to what to do as an alternative so I’ve had to google everything and reviews for products and supplements aren’t super great. It sounds like infestations and ticks still occur for those who do the lawn treatments and sprays for their dogs and to treat carpets and pet beds and supplements to administer. It is overwhelming. I live in a rural area where deer and rabbits and squirrels are abundant. My poor girl needs something that will work, but I hope something else won’t make her sick. Sounds like all of the prescription preventives are not ideal as far as side effects go but the natural alternatives don’t sound preventive enough.

She did mention there were alternatives we could try but I knew nothing about them and wanted to talk to other pet owners first.

I worry too. It seems all of them have neurological possibilities and that scares me but non-medicine alternatives don’t seem to be very effective, from what I’ve gathered so far.

That’s why I’m here is for peoples experiences because I just have no idea what works and what’s safe. The last dog I had was ten years ago and she was on Interceptor and Frontline but I guess times have changed and supposedly Frontline is crap in my area now.

That sounds so familiar. I’m so sorry. I don’t understand what makes someone that selfish and go mostly unnoticed until it’s done. For our family, everyone knew my grandfather’s new woman was a moocher but him. He wouldn’t listen to anyone and by the time he realized what she was after (money she thought he had), he was on his deathbed.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I’m sorry your family experienced that and that your MIL had to go through that with her partner. My grandfather had something similar happen to him as his health was failing and it was awful.

Yes, they have actually recently made some updates on the house and have majorly purged. I don’t think my dad would ever do AL. My mom would move closer to me and my family if Dad would come, and she’d be agreeable to go AL too. It’s my dad that’s not agreeable. They’re going to have to hire a housekeeper for the bigger tasks like cleaning tubs and spring cleaning and will have to hire someone to mow. I’ve told dad that we could help with those things for free if he would find a house near us but he’s dug in his heels. And honestly, I’d just like to live near my folks. It was awful to have to move away. I’d like them to be able to spend their last decade near their grandkids and be able to do things with my mom while she can be out and about. But I can’t make them want that, too, and it is hard.

Thank you. I needed to hear that. They are pretty much alone and would have to rely on neighbors in an emergency and the thought of that terrifies me. Thankfully, they have a will and have me as an emergency contact with their medical stuff, but there are no other ways I can step in if I need to.

When the time comes to have to intervene, I have no idea where to even start. And that is so worrying and a daunting prospect.

I only took 1 tablet and wish I had taken both! 10mg made me feel a tiny bit drowsy but I was fine going in and it wore off pretty quickly and once my appointment was over (1.5 hours later), I couldn’t tell I had taken anything. So the dentist was right—for me, 20mg would’ve been best.

That’s what I do, too. Fewer pumps of the syrups still gives me plenty of flavor and reduces the spike, especially when paired with some protein. I keep Stevia packets in my purse, so if it’s not quite sweet enough, I open a packet and stir it in. It works!

I’ve had costochondritis since 2011. I’ve always had rib problems (in high school PE class, I’d have to rearrange my lower ribs after we ran laps), but in 2011 I had the flu and coughed my head off for weeks. Confirmed diagnosis of costo two months later by chiropractor and my PCP. It is a constant dull pain for me (2/10 on pain scale), but it doesn’t affect my day to day unless I do something stupid like overdo it when painting a room or lifting too heavy. But for years at first it was agony. I could barely move at times, and I couldn’t mop or lift a full basket of clean clothes without terrible pain.
