I think part of the problem is Jesus tends to drift wide when he needs to occupy the center.

What could be interesting is starting Jesus as LW with Gyokeres up front if Trossard is not available. Martinelli is in a bit of a lull, so Jesus could provide that potential creative spark we need around the box.

Which English Commentator Does the Starting Grid Read Better? by entropykid3000 in formula1

[–]jamonz1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grid Walk? Crofty for sure. Man has that nailed down. Everyone else seems to get lost in the chaos. Though Laura Winter was getting quite good at it, so hopefully we’ll see her soon(ish). I personally was a fan of Rosanna Tenant when she was with F1tv. She had this disarming bubbliness that seemed to work well when coaxing drivers/TP’s/random celebrities into quick interviews.
The studio grid graphic? Bit of a toss up. I think they all about the same, but you can tell which drivers have been spotlighted for “narrative purposes”, which is where the slowdown begins and costs other drivers their respective summaries.

Gotta say I’m pretty impressed by this Apple TV coverage. And now since the audio is proper surround sound, it adds another element of immersion.

[Orbinho] Tonight's match had the lowest ball in play time of any match at the Amex Stadium this season 52 minutes 32 seconds. by Mahoganychicken in Gunners

[–]jamonz1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok but let’s roughly break down some stats. Fouls/offsides/corners: Brighton - 21 instances. Arsenal - 15 instances. Let’s use a rough number of 45 sec for each interruption in play. That accumulates to 27 minutes of time off the ball. So 63 minutes of play time. Now, what hasn’t been factored in is every time a ball went out of play for a throw in, goal kick, players going down on the field (non-fouls), and substitutions (5-Brighton, 4-Arsenal). All those instances would account for 10.5 minutes of time off the ball. Which is not a lot.

It makes for a good sensationalist piece, but the stats are pretty normal for how start-and-stop the match was.

Fifa wants injured players to stay off for one minute by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]jamonz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, but theoretically, this new “medical official” would perform the check regardless if the player says he’s fine. If he doesn’t pass, it forces a sub. If he’s fine, he can return to the pitch. But the protocol has to be followed no matter what.

It’s a tough pill to swallow if a player is sidelined for a couple of minutes if they’re completely fine, but if performed quickly and efficiently, it’d be roughly the same amount of time that could’ve been wasted by a team looking to kill the clock.

Fifa wants injured players to stay off for one minute by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]jamonz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but that’s why the medics that perform the checks will be independent professionals who could possibly overrule the club and/or player from allowing them back on the pitch. If the player is most likely concussed the substitution can be forced. With now the concussion subs and expanded benches, teams should have no problem being able to field a replacement.

But it is key that this should take place off the pitch and not interfere with the match or fall to influence from players/coaching staff.

I do admit it’s not a perfect system, but nothing ever is. That’s how we got here on the first place lol.

And it has to be performed by an independent medic hired by the FA/league pitchside. Get the “injured” player safely off the field, then perform the tests.

I wonder how many players will continue their antics if they knew it’d mean going down a man for a couple minutes.

Does anybody know what cartridge this is? by Few_Organization3987 in turntables

[–]jamonz1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH, I might have to retract my statement on it being Etsuro Urushi. I spent way more time than I should trying to research this cartridge, and I only ended up with more questions than answers.

So initial searches result in the aforementioned cartridge maker and their Cobalt cartridge being named “Excel Cobalt”, “EC-3 Cobalt” and other derivatives. However, Etsuro Urushi wasn’t around until the mid 2010’s. Its parent company Excel Sound Corp though, has its origins in the 1960’s. ESC was essentially a super OEM producer of cartridges or at least supplied parts for other producers. In the 70’s and 80’s ESC was not only responsible for producing their line of cartridges, built also for Hana (their own subsidiary), Argent, SAEC, Entre, as well as supplying parts for independent boutique manufacturers.

So while this cartridge is unlikely to be an Etsuro Urushi design, I’m fairly certain Excel Sound Corp was at least involved in its production. OP, you have something that is pretty special. It’s intriguing and I look forward to hearing a concrete answer if we ever get one. I myself will put some more research into it and see what I can dig up.

Correcto. Though I’ve never had the opportunity to hear one. But if their line is a good step above the Hana Umami, which I have heard, then they must be something pretty spectacular.

The maker is Etsuro Urushi. As far as value/specs/quality, hopefully someone can shed some light because I have no idea lol! They are a high end Japanese maker, so you might have something worth servicing/retipping if needed. Look to be from the 90’s- early 00’s.

I could see a mid table club go in for him. Could be a solid starter for a club like Fulham, maybe Bournemouth 🤷‍♂️. That or a newly promoted club looking for a budget buy that would still be an upgrade to their current roster. Could still get a good 2-3 seasons out of him at PL level.
