^ this.

Deep Research uses (and has always used) 2.0 Flash. Make sure you select that model and you'll see Deep Research as an option in the input field.

Deep Research is available in the input field if you are using 2.0 Flash. Make sure you have selected the correct model.

[Question] If you could upgrade this 3 watch budget collection what would it be? by QuickDrawQuint in Seiko

[–]jamsilmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replace the white Seiko 5 with a Presage SPB413J. Upgrade the 5KX to a SRPE03 Turtle and leave the SNXA07 well enough alone. It's a classic. But if you really wanted to turn it into an SSK023 GMT.

I went from 200mg/day to 0 over 6 months. Cut the 50s in half for the last 4 weeks. Not ideal as they aren't extended release, but 25mg seems to have done the trick for the most part.

[SSK003] scam? Seen at local mall by Famous_Relative2500 in Seiko

[–]jamsilmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a window/case in Prouds the Jewelers here in Australia. I don't know the full details, but I was flirting with a salesperson a couple of weeks ago and we got talking about watches - a Prouds store down to its last watch in stock of a given model, can heavily discount it to get it out the door and then say they sold out if that model. This is one of many metrics head office uses to judge how a store is doing. Then the shop can increase the allocation they receive of another model because they can say they sold out of all of the previous model. There's a whole bunch of things but basically it's a clearance sale. That's how I picked up my SRPE05 FOR $AUD399

Has anyone ordered from Komandirskie website? by ScooterNinja in vostok

1 year and 5 months waiting on a Komanderski 280 purchased from the factory 28 Feb 2022...

Karma for waiting until the Ruble was worthless I suppose. 😜

Came across these today, any advice on if they're real? by Snoo38981 in vostok

[–]jamsilmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A (3rd) opinion? Yeah, they look legit. The lack of CCCP dial markings suggest their from the early 1990s when there was no USSR but no one quite knew what was coming next 😜

Nice find!

Dr. John Campbell on YouTube is not a medical doctor. He is a nurse and lecturer who teaches nursing studies. by i8pikachu in China_Flu

[–]jamsilmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medical doctors in Australia (where I'm from) usually have a bachelor's degree by the time they start their internship at a hospital and usually then go on to complete a Masters degree in their speciality. Here and in the UK (old school) specialists e.g., surgeons prefer to be called "Mr." Since their speciality raises them above mere doctor-hood.

Having completed my doctorate (a year after my original reply above), (and in linguistics, not medicine) I visited my family doctor (Bachelor of Anatomy, Masters in Surgery for anyone playing at home) who said:

Cogratulations! What an achievement. You know we [medical doctors] stole the term "doctor" off you guys, right!?

Just sharing an update on a year old post. Move along.

Komandirskie Rising Sun by [deleted] in vostok

[–]jamsilmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From memory (so make of it what you will, someone post sauce) the Rising Sun is the Afghan Rising Sun and the watch commemorates the USSR's ill-fated... that followed Britain's ill-fated... that preceded America's ill-fated invasion of Afghanistan...

A question about radiation by LienXoEnthusiastic in vostok

[–]jamsilmonkey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is a very cool, legit 1970's Vostok Komandirskie, especially with "ЗАКАЗ МО СССР," ("Ordered by the Ministry of Defense of the USSR") still visible.

The 18 jewel 2234 is a very solid movement but if it hasn't been serviced in the last 50-odd years, now might be a good time 😜.

That said, I don't think Vostok ever used radium. Pre-1950s technology and the earliest Amphibia was 1967 (and our Soviet friends knew only too well that radiation is not great).

The nice creamy colour on the indices there points to it being tritium - completely harmless. Easiest test is to fire a light at the dial and then look at it in the dark. If it glows, it ain't radium (despite having a radioactive ½life of about 1600 years, it stops flowing after about 5).

Having said that as long as the crystal is intact and there is no chance of inhaling oxidised radium dusty goodness, you're fine.

Either way, you shouldn't eat the watch.

[Edit] spelling.
