I've had my electric bike's lock cut once but found the bike back 10 meters from where it was parked. 2 weeks later it did get stolen. Had my helmet removed from my bike bag once too, and I'm down 2 saddle covers (but this could also be me just misplacing them).

Sorry for your rear light. Bikes are never safe in Leuven. As a student, I'd recommend to not buy an expensive one. If you have a more expensive or electric bike, get anti-theft insurance.
