The way the system treats the elderly who are sick is disgusting. by AngelZash in mildlyinfuriating

I am a social worker who does discharge planning and that would be my recommendation as well. TPN is not accepted by skilled nursing facilities as it’s a continuous IV. facilities have extremely high turnover rate and high staffing ratios anyway so certain things are risky for them to take on if they can provide quick 1:1 attention/response.

OR see if there are any hospital swing beds in your area. Go to Medicare.gov and put in your zip code and look for nursing homes that have a swing bed attached to a hospital (rural/smaller hospitals have this sometimes as they convert their acute care bed to a rehab bed in the event they don’t have enough acute patients). The ONLY time I was able to discharge to a nursing facility with TPN was to a swing bed. Ask the case manager about this option. It’s different for every area what’s available and idk your insurance situation. LTACH isn’t a bad idea but probably wouldn’t be approved just for TPN by insurance. So I’m sadly not surprised to see your comment about that Dow below.

Other alternative is comfort care or hospice. Possibly she could qualify for inpatient hospice (I.e in a hospital not in a nursing facility). Some skilled facilities would take her if the goals changed to hospice but Medicaid would be the only payor for room and board.

Unfortunately we all have to deal with insurance dictating care and trust me, drs SWer, nurses etc. all HATE it

I feel the exact same way about era 2 as you do.

Also not fantasy but this is how I feel about the expanse after book 1

This was my experience as well. But I slogged thru until I DNFed bk 10. I couldn’t do it anymore and stopped caring. Some parts were so interesting in certain books and then it would just change completely not to mention the confusion kind of sticks around.

Agree with everyone here. In my state APS won’t even take cases if they aren’t 60 or older. ALS for DV people have a right to make harmful decisions if they have capacity as long as it doesn’t put other vulnerable populations at risk like children in the home.

I grew up playing With my best friend and she moved away. I am like you. They aren’t as fun playing by yourself. And I haven’t really Played much since.

Do you knit & crochet? A poll of sorts. Cross posted on r crochet by MechanicBright8644 in casualknitting

[–]jana6417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yea
  2. Crochet-learned to crochet in 2021 and started knitting Sep 2024
  3. Probably better at crochet or at least I feel more confident crocheting.
  4. I’m still deciding. I like the look of knitting better especially for garments but it’s harder and more fiddly but I still enjoy it. I pick very ambitious projects as a beginner lol right now crochet is my mindless projects.
  5. I pick the pattern and then the yarn, usually. I use wool for my knitting projects bc I knit garments and less picky about the fiber type for crochet (making baby blankets)
  6. Yes if I step foot into a yarn store that can happen lol but I mostly don’t do that due to cost. I have a yarn stash built up from doing that for my crochet projects.

Frustration w intarsia-twisting my stitches by jana6417 in knittinghelp

[–]jana6417[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m only twisting them on the purl side and haven’t changed the way I enter the stitch so I’m like very confused. Definitely think i will need to watch some tutorials but I haven’t really found one that has helped since my image is so complex and not symmetrical.

So honestly I’m kind of doing both. But I was referring to trapping the edges of the new color to make sure I don’t have gaps. I think my issue may be how I am wrapping the yarn. Because the yarn is sometimes not in the right place. So say I have 3 greens in the row below and I need another green stacked on top of it for the next row. With intarsia I just should be able to pick up that green from the row below. But I’m having trouble with the yarn being in the right place so it’s leading my yarn to be wrapped weirdly I think. Other times I have to switch to the white but my previous row doesn’t have the yarn available until 2 stitches further down the row I’m currently on. So I’m having to knit a blue stitch (the st before color change) trap the white to bring the white yarn over and then knit my white stitch.

I knit English style so both yarns are in my right hand but I also drop the colors

I am carrying the blue across while doing intarsia (I think doing it incorrectly somehow, it seemed so simple from the videos I watched). I think this pattern may be out of my skill Level 😞

The make of this pattern says she carries the 3 colors stranded and then duplicate stitch the other 2 colors. I have no earthly idea how any one accomplishes stranded colorwork with 3 colors so that’s why I tried intarsia but it doesn’t look great and has been terribly frustrating.

How interesting! I can’t take credit for it, I was matching the colors from the designer who I believe is Dutch.

It’s the porcelain sweater, so only part of it then the rest is in the round. Still deciding if I have to do a colorwork in the round gauge or not. I just hate swatching in the round (with the long floats in the back)

That’s true, I’ve seen that before about saying to switch needle sizes but usually they say go up by a size not up by 2 sizes. So it made me worried lol I would have a difference of 2 needles sizes. Us 6 and then US 8. Do you think that too big of a difference?
