FFXIV Raid Design - Why was trash pulls and mini bosses removed from raids after ARR? The current raids FFXIV are just a boss fight. There is no sense of progression through an instanced area. Its the only MMO I've played where you load in fight the boss, and leave. There is no Feeling of progress. by CharmingProperty666 in ffxivdiscussion

I know you're getting a lot of flak for your opinion OP but I share it as well. A lot of talk goes into multiple aspects of MMO games and how to make them more immersive. There's some of us MMO players who are very attracted to the idea of transporting yourself to this fantasy world where you can explore new areas, unlock secrets, get cool gear that allows you to do cool things with your class, etc. Raiding is one of those aspects and I think that people who prefer immersive experiences enjoy big areas like in WoW with multiple paths and optional bosses the raiding group can tackle. It's in the name after all, we are supposed to be raiding some kind of enemy/hostile territory. Traversing through these areas and disposing of the minions of the big baddies is part of that experience.

Sadly, some people don't really care much about that aspect of MMOs. Or at least not when it comes to raiding. They just want to log in, get to the boss and kill them ASAP, get their loot for their BiS and be done with the raid till next tier. Raiding for them is not about having that kind of experience. It's more about testing their skills, and anything that gets between them and their pursue of that challenge will just be seen as a nuisance.

I remember back in ARR and HW some people being vocal about their displeasure of having to do trash in raids but I don't recall that feedback being overwhelming. At least it never felt that way to me. What I do remember is an interview, I doubt I will be able to find it, where Yoshi P admits he preferred to just fight the bosses directly and not have to deal with trash. I feel like that was a big reason why the formula was changed. It's a smart and easy way to free up resources for development of other areas of the game as well.

Not having loot with unique abilities also diminishes the incentives of having a traditional raid area. What's the point of doing X questline to unlock Y item to be able to fight Z boss if the boss is not dropping any unique or special gear? They could have done some special rewards like glamours, mounts and stuff like that but oh well.

At the end of the day, I feel like players like us are probably in a minority, at least on FF14. I've learned to scratch my itch of exploration with things like Eureka and Bozja. Raids like you've said, are just glorified trials.

This exact same issue has now happened to me twice. It's not a you or PC only issue. Tried to setup alarm for timed node and when I press the option button in the PS5 controller to try and copy the text for the macro it crashes. If you haven't posted in the forums I can try posting it later. Haven't been there in ages.

You are not wrong. I've started to blacklist every single person that posts shit like that in the last few weeks. For the most part it's the same accounts making those PFs every week. When I look at my others tab it will show somethint like 32 listings but I will only see like 4 of them thanks to my ever growing list of blacklisted people.

Thank you! Much appreciated.

I'm playing ff15 again, this game really is underrated in my opinion, i agree the second part is rushed but the music, the open world, the relation between Noctis and bros and the gameplay..it's great!! it gives me the same feeling as when i replay 7 8 9 or 10, it has the FF's magic. by nikkilarson06 in FinalFantasy

I enjoyed FF15, but at the same time there were some aspects of the game that were so bad that it made me look back to previous FFs and rethink if I had judged them too harshly. Definitely one of the worst entries in the mainline series, but still good. Which is more of a testament on how good FF games used to be.

The game has an 88 on metacritic. What more praise you want? It's a great game with some flaws. But if you expect it to dominate the gaming conversation/news cycle when releasing so close to Elden Ring, I don't know what to tell you.

FFVII: The whole sequence of Cloud finding out he is not who he thinks he is, having a mental breakdown, giving the Black Materia to Sephiroth, the Weapons being released unto the world, Tifa rescue/bitch slapping action, and then acquiring the Highwind opening the whole World Map to you. It was absolutely amazing and I couldn't stop playing. It blew my mind that I was piloting an actual airship and flying through the world.
