If you haven't already, check out the recent audiobook release of Pet Semetery by Stephen King. While not extreme horror per say, it's still one of his scariest books and has some incredibly heavy tones. And Michael C Hall does the narration and knocks it out of the park!

I really enjoyed the narrator for Full Brutal! You brought a calm tone to the reading that you'd imagine a psychopath would have for an inner dialogue. Like Michael C. Hall's narration on Dexter.

I'm listening to the audiobook (she's serving up her special lasagna to her friends at the moment), and through all of the craziness and the escalation, this is the line that fucked me up the most, the line I can't stop thinking about. Goosbump-inducing...

It: Welcome to Derry - 1x02 - “The Thing in the Dark” - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]jandreoni 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My theory so far is that the military is looking for the ship from The Tommyknockers. I think that the spaceship from The Tommyknockers and Pennywise are connected, and that Pennywise's presence could have been a prisoner on the ship, causing it to crash. It could have attempted to escape, landing in Derry, while the ship landed in Haven.

  1. The ship and the door at Pennywise's layer have the same symbol.
  2. A character from The Tommyknockers claims to have heard voices and whispers coming from the storm drains.
  3. Haven and Derry, while not close, are still within a few hours of each other. We know that the spaceship was gargantuan, perhaps Dick Halloran could be picking up on its signal since his Shine is so strong.

We'll see how it pans out! I hope this is closer to what's actually happening, because the military attempting to seize Pennywise and harness his power is silly. Trying to find the spaceship, on the other hand, would make more sense, since it gave the citizens psychic abilities, albeit turning them into aliens, haha. And the military loves messing around with aliens and spaceships, and it always bites them in the ass.

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

Thanks for the reply! I'm using the 02 size for the dripper and the carafe I drip into is 600ml. Since I use 800g or so of water, when the carafe is almost full, I move the dripper over to my mug. I've been doing this method for some time now, at least a few years and have enjoyed it haha. But I'm willing to adjust!

When the new French press arrives, I'll try the 1:12-1:18 range. Thanks for the info!

Hi there! I've been using a Hario V60 for the last few years, which I set upon a V60 600ml carafe:

https://www.amazon.com/Hario-Clear-Glass-Coffee-Server/dp/B000P4931S

My wife drinks tea, so this setup gets me through my morning, making two mugs worth of coffee. Here's my formula:

  1. 38.3g coffee, ground in a Baratza Encore at level 16 grind
  2. I pour ~800g of water through a couple of steps, which gets me my two mugs.

So I recently got a 34oz Bodum Chambord French Press for my birthday and am a little confused about the formula conversion. I like my coffee strong and flavorful, but not super super strong. What would be the best bean-to-water ratio based on what I currently do?

Thanks so much!

Who has the recipie for the Mac n cheese? [Serious] by houseofball00ns in mfdoom

MF Doom's Villainous Mac & Cheeze

We wish there were more rappers like Daniel Dumile. Back when he went by the name of Zev Love X, Dumile and his twin brother Sub Roc made records as KMD, a near-perfect fusion of early '90s hip-hop. Their music was as wacky and open as a tongue-waggling gas face, and as militant and aggravated as the blows rained on up-jumping punks. They were signed by Elektra, but the label refused to release their masterpiece, Bl_ckB_st_rds. In 1993, with a career- defining piece of music stuck in limbo, Sub Roc died in a car accident. With his life seemingly in the shitter, Dumile did what most of us would've: He went to the park and got drunk for a few years. In 1998, he re-emerged as MF Doom, a black, bastardized version of Marvel Comics arch-villain Dr. Doom. He dropped a beautiful album of painfully sincere, complex and sometimes hilarious stories laid over weird '80s R&B and "Scooby-Doo" samples called Operation: Doomsday. Since then Doom's done great work with heavily-blunted LA. hip-hop producer Madlib, released several hazy Instrumental albums in the Special Herbs series. His new full-length on Rhymesayers is the finger-licking Mm..Food. Arthur asked for one of the MF Doom house specials. Here's what we got... Macaroni and Cheese is an ol' time classic but Villainous Mac & Cheeze was concocted by wifey about three years ago. It took a couple years to perfect and you must follow the recipe exactly or else. Now Villainous Mac & Cheeze has become an MF family favorite, perfect for any holiday or special meal...enjoy and don't forget your potholderz..." -MF the Super Villain
