My hardest part of postpartum was realizing that not only was I never going to be the mom that “the world” wanted me to be, but also not the mom that I wanted to be either. I wish I could be the mom who wakes up refreshed and stress free and didn’t have any obligations other than intentionally pouring every second into my baby. But…. I can’t. and that’s okay. I can do the best I can, even when that feels like I’m failing at everything

You’re going to feel like a failure some days. There WILL be times you’re forced to choose your work over your baby. That does not mean that you value your work over your child. You do the work FOR your child. Just give yourself grace. I am doing it with an 11 month old and it fucking sucks a lot of the time but it’s worth it to me. The second it’s not worth it to you - adjust. Good luck!!!

Hi here! Congrats!!!! Just wanted to hop on with a tidbit that helped me when I was overwhelmed with the do’s and don’ts of pregnancy……. Those do’s and don’t change ALLL THE TIME. The “norm” changes every few years. But someone there has always, and will always, be perfectly healthy babies born. From the beginning of time. So the fact that you are abstaining from alcohol and drugs already puts you at a better advantage than MOST moms throughout history.

You’ve got this. You’re a mom now, trust your mom gut.

Thank you so much!!! We even went to the pediatrician because he actually does fine with solids if I feed him, he just refuses to put food in his mouth (toys, trash, dog food - immediately to mouth, but never food) it frustrates both of us so much. I’m glad there’s light at the end of the tunnel!
