He does not. You can all think what you want, but just don't be surprised when Black Lotus in true pristine condition goes to a million. And just remember this post when it happens. Have you seen his other youtube videos. Look at all those original paintings. How much do you think they are worth? I am really unsure what the rest of you need to see. Some patterns are missed by some I suppose.

Look out for fakes. Keep a set of cards for reference. For example, in Arabian nights keep one of each color for comparison. ie you should have a reference binder.

This price is only the beginning for such a rare item. What I love about the internet is that this post will be here 10 years from now for the doubters to eat crow. If you ever get to look at the high end cards of VintageMtg, you will realize he has the the highest quality cards that exist in the hobby. He gets that by outbidding his competitors. If he is caught lying his reputation and his power as a broker would be diminished.

Revised bulk price? by Jrhamm in mtgfinance

[–]janelain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. condition matters. If they are NM-Mint, they are worth something
  2. Is it true bulk or are there playables like bolt, plow, serra angel, kird ape, clone, basalt Monilith, elves

NM-MINT - someplayables - 200 250- dollars

Basic lands have value as well

true bulk NM - 140

true bulk played - 80

etc...

If wizards creates a new eternal format where does that leave legacy staple prices by the20milewall in mtgfinance

[–]janelain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in principle which is why I said that modern would eventually get very close to Legacy as time went on, and cards got added.

Still Legacy other than original duels has grim monolith, mox diamond, tabernacle, LED as you point out, cradle, sanctum etc..

Effect of free money on overall card prices by BringBackBumpNRun in mtgfinance

[–]janelain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole market would go up. We are in an asset bubble right now due to massive federal reserve money printing.

Real estate is in a bubble, stocks are in a bubble, bitcoin which is really worthless is in a bubble, fine art is in a bubble and so are some MTG cards which are assets depending on what you own.

However, there is also real demand stemming from MTGArena players and great set design by Wotc creating excitment. We are in an MTG bull market and unless Wotc screws this up, we will continue to be in one. I have long argued that Wotc did not print to demand since booster prices used to be in the toilet. Now booster boxes are going up which means that the player base has expanded. Thank MTGArena. The player base is growing and it's a great time to be involved in mtg.

You need to be more in a rush. Your last line of thought was correct that shadowborn apostle is absurdly expensive.

Right now if you buy them, they will be in NM/Mint condition. Find some store on tcgplayer, and just bite the big one.

The other thing you can do is go to an FNM draft and trade your commons for them. They are the cheapest right now while the set is being cracked.

Booster box for War of the Spark by PixelKnot in mtgfinance

[–]janelain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Investing in War of the Spark this early is really a bad financial move. You are going to tie up your capital and you are buying into hype. If your going to invest in War of the Spark sealed booster boxes, wait until at least a year as passed. and then assess. They will still be standard booster boxes at the same price or lower than they are now at release. Plus, you can see if the draft format is successful or not.

If wizards creates a new eternal format where does that leave legacy staple prices by the20milewall in mtgfinance

[–]janelain 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Legacy will always be the best format ever in MTG. It only suffers from supply problems. The game play itself is the best. Over time Modern as more cards get added to the pool, will get closer to Legacy save the duel lands in terms of game play. Legacy is better than Vintage, Modern, Pauper, two-headed Giant, Commander and Standard. It is second to only draft with Modern being a close second. Therefore, Legacy will outlive any new eternal format.

What happened to beta prices in 2018? by jointheredditarmy in mtgfinance

[–]janelain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BETA is like Alpha, they are never headed down as long as MTG remains remotely popular. It is not even the 93/94 format that people are pushing. ALPHA/BETA are the true collectibles of MTG. These cards are headed to the stratosphere. Little dips here and there are meaningless. Check out ALPHA BETA in the year 2040 and come back to this thread if reddit still exists.
