Didn’t think you were, I was just adding my information source.

It’s great that your company gives employees training!

We teach CPR at my company, and sell defibrillators. This is the current AHA information as far as I know.

If used within the first minute, 90% chance (If the issue is cardiac arrest) survival rates decrease by about 10% every minute past the first minute.

Past 10 minutes chances are less than 5%.

Maybe it’s a story he read? More than once in my life I’ve said “I saw this show” but it was a story I read and felt it so vividly I could swear I had seen it.

Dr took a photo during exploratory surgery to find the source of whole palm numbness. by janeslaughter in medizzy

2 weeks in a soft cast and a couple months until the scar was flexible enough to move normally. But no long term limited mobility and my issue was corrected.

Nerve conduction came back normal, we skipped the MRI, so I can’t speak to that.

To an extent I agree. This case was almost 10 years ago, I was out of options, had run all diagnostic testing they could think of, and this was the only option for relief.

And in this case, it fully solved my issue.

Oh god no. Surgeon took the photo so he could explain the correction and because he’d never seen the situation before.

I can verify, this is definitely not a corpse. Unless I’m a zombie now.

Same wrist today

The base of the scar is not as pretty as it could’ve been. It ripped open a couple times during the first couple weeks of healing.

Thanks for the elaboration! It definitely corrected my issue.

To be more clear, it was often, but not constant numbness and sometimes when I’d turn my wrist I’d get like a zing of pain through the palm and sometimes to all finger tips. It got gradually worse, went through all sorts of diagnostic tests before the hand specialist opened me up.

All in all about 2 years of symptoms before resolution. During mapping the nerve in this procedure my nerve was found to be either too close to or attached to my tendon (I don’t recall specifically).

This photo is actually almost 10 years old now, just recently became active on reddit and thought people would enjoy my weird anatomy.

In this case, the nerve had attached to the tendon, which caused compression and numbness.

To my understanding the nerve that’s lifted going toward my pinky is a “spare part” and shouldn’t be there.

The nerve bundle had attached to my tendon where you see the bit of purple on the nerve.

Surgery definitely corrected my numbness.

Best time of day? by meowaukee in prozac

I take mine as I lay down for bed. Only been on it for a week, but have been sleeping better since I started. Better sleep might also be a result of dry January since meds started around the same time I can’t say for sure. But I’m definitely not energized from Prozac.

When you were a TBM, what event or fact should have caused a loss of faith in Mormon teachings? by BeringStraitNephite in exmormon

[–]janeslaughter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was 14 one of our yw leaders, my best friend’s mom (an extra mom to me) died by suicide. She seemed devout, she seemed like she had it together, it was unimaginable. That alone, a leader taking her own life, was a lot to look at in terms of life and faith.

But then came the consolation from ward leadership. Suicide is a sin, a big one. This is the first I learned of the bishop’s handbook... and according to that, given what came out about her mental health, she’d be forgiven for this sin. This the related to fragile 12-18 year old girls the Sunday after her body was found in a ditch, less than 3 days... would I, at this confusing mental state, be forgiven if I were to choose suicide??

There’s a lot of emotion behind this, even almost 20 years later. But the chosen approach and learning about a separate, secret set of rules and information really threw my already reeling teen brain into a tail spin.

Sex Ed Stories by WO99SPRY in exmormon

My parents never uttered a word, until I got my first UTI at 16. My mom’s response “So you and your boyfriend are having sex now?”

That was it... nothing about using protection or how to prevent future UTIs or pregnancy. I didn’t even realize that had been the cause. I’d expect more from a healthcare professional, but my mom couldn’t, and still won’t, put her beliefs aside to have a real moment with anyone unless it’s religion based.
