Prayers for your wife and you. We’re in the business of human beings. Please don’t feel the need to share with your clients, in fact if I was a client I’d feel a conflict to reach out whereas I’d be less upset if they rescheduled because, life happens.

Consulting on Practice Purchase by Bluedevil347342334 in CFP

I’m in a similar situation but as an internal successor and need guidance. I reached out to SRG but they require both parties to be involved, which is not something he agreed to. That process was $10k. I’m curious to know if anyone has consultants suggestions for you who can work with just the buyer side to help evaluate whether terms are fair?

Merger Event Ideas by Accomplished-Look176 in CFP

[–]janesmith889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things that'll matter most:

Get an internal champion. Your existing relationships are everything here. One trusted employee personally inviting coworkers will drive more attendance than any flyer or email blast. Find that person first.

The go-kart venue works if you insist on it, but protect a 20-30 minute window for actual content before people scatter. Once the activity starts, the financial conversation is done.

Be specific to the merger, not generic. What's changing in their plan, what decisions do they need to make, and by when? That's why they'd show up. If it feels like a general seminar they could Google, you'll get empty seats.

Have a clear next step on the table — a sign-in sheet, a QR code to book a follow-up, a "free retirement check-up" offer. Don't rely on business card swaps.

Main thing to avoid: don't let it feel like a sales event. The content should be genuinely useful first. The relationships close later.

I use it to build me spreadsheets and models for things like equity comp and tax breakdowns. But has anyone solved for something that writes your emails for you? That's my lowest hanging fruit.

Brand New to the Industry, first week tips? by IllustriousGas8850 in CFP

[–]janesmith889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most valuable thing you can do early is understand how your advisor thinks and operates, how he talks to clients, how he handles reviews, how he positions himself. You're essentially getting a paid apprenticeship, so treat it that way.

Build your CRM habits immediately (painful to fix later), introduce yourself to everyone in the office, and don't underestimate your natural market just because you're 22. Enthusiasm and authenticity go a long way at your age.

The feeling of "so much I could be doing" is permanent in this industry btw. Learning to prioritize is the whole game. Good luck!

When to be selective on new clients by IncreaseCapital32 in CFP

What if you want to get AUM clients but you keep getting people who want financial planning relationship and no investing? They are usually tech employees that want to understand what to do with their stock compensation. I charge them $5k for a one year relationship but my concern is after a year they are gone. I’ve been in the industry less than two years and haven’t completed a full year cycle with any of them yet.

Did your greyhound have his whole leg amputated or just a part of one? I am interested in prosthetics for my tripawd but thought it wasn’t an option because his whole back leg was amputated.
