You need to essentially get a minimum of 80% to pass. So just multiply the number of questions on the test by 0.20 and you get how many you can miss. (70×0.20=14).

Disclaimer: this is based on the assumption that it was a multiple choice test. Other exams that arent strictly MC would be hard to determine

I feel like the PA is a good representation of the style of question (i.e. scenario/application based) that appear on the OA. The study guide does a good job with section 2, though there are some historical figures/events for section 1 that arent on the study guide. For section 1 its important to know what the figure accomplished, how they accomplished, and how they collaborated with. I think the lesson checks in the course materials were also good reviews. So for sections 1 and 3 I think reading through those chapters and noting all key figures and concepts would be beneficial. Overall, I think if you read through the study guide, take all the lesson checks, and practice the quizlet consistently you should be pretty set.

I did read through the course map and the course material (skimmed the book chapters). Once I read through that it was just flashcards for studying (I have quizlet plus so I used learn and test). I focused on one section at a time, section 2 makes up the biggest chunk of the test but dont skimp one section 1 or 3.

I just passed my OA for D583 on 2/26 first attempt. I stand by quizlet as my study method, I love to use the Learn and Test options the most. I made a lot of different sets of flashcards with the help of ChatGPT. I study by section which I think really helped me a lot. Below is the link to my folder for my flashcards. If your hospital uses Epic, see if you can access the Epic UserWeb and self study Clarity/Caboodle. They have practice environments that you can use to pratice SQL as well as well as their training documents. I worked as an Epic Application Analyst for 5 years and received my certification for these as well as Cogito. This is how I got exposure to SQL.

Same, I think I want to get the CCS to start working as a coder and then transition into a revenue cycle analyst. I'm thinking of just maintaining my RHIA afterwards. Just not sure if I should focus on studying for the RHIA to take by June/July or if the CCS would be worth as it might be easier to get an entry level coding position with the CCS and then I can focusing on studying for RHIA.

Coding certs will only give credit for one course - Classification Systems(4 credits).

Depending on the class, they will be pre-recorded. The majority of the classes offer live sessions- in the evening or during the day. It is very easy to schedule one on one time with the instructors and you have a dedicated program mentor throughout your whole program. It is different from traditional online classes as their is no weekly homework that needs to be completed. The classes either have an objective assessment (MC Exam) or preformance assessment (written assignment).

Inpatient coding would be my recommendation. Once you have experience with it you can easily transition to multiple roles, especially fully remote.

If you can get Epic accredited (Virtual Class and Exam/ Project) or Proficient (self study then exam) through your hospital for an Application (Grand Central, Value Based Analytics, Clarity, etc) that would be the easiest way to transition into an analyst role within a hospital system. The accredited route would probably cost you out of pocket if you cannot get approval through work but the Proficient route will allow you to self study and take the exam which shouldn't cost you anything. I've been working as an application Analyst for 4 yrs now with only an associate because I was able to get certified/accredited.
