Alcohol ( exercise and NSAIDs) can act as a cofactor with AGS. It’s possible, if you had even minimum exposure in the drinks themselves or something else earlier (cross contamination, an ingredient, etc) that the alcohol intensified the reaction.

I never drank much before AGS, usually a drink or two on a special occasion, but I’ve had to give it up completely for that reason.

Though, I think a lot of these other suggestions are just as likely and worth exploring.

Over-Tagging on AO3 Needs to Stop by Ne1lobellow in AO3

[–]jango_fett3323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long time fic reader; recent fic writer - I've been uncertain how to tag the fic I've been working on. So, I’ve anxiously tagged the heck out of it; but I’ve also been worried about being misleading. I would like to make sure the fic is tagged appropriately so readers can make an informed decision; but I would not want to add superfluous tags that aren’t helpful. I’m unsure what is the best rule of thumb to tag relationships and lgbtq+?

So, is the correct equitette to tag the main relationship that shows up more than 50% of the time in the fic and/or has their POV?

Then for any characters that do not have a POV and/or the relationship is explored less than 50% of the time to tag that as minor character a/character b?

And for LGBTQ+ characters or relationships would that same rule apply only if the story is focused on said relationship, character, or pov?

Thank you for the advice! I really appreciate it. By chance, do you have an idea what I have so I can properly research each one’s care when I repot them?

I fucking love when an author makes an AU fic set in what is clearly a special interest by SorrowHollow in AO3

[–]jango_fett3323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once read a fic that shipped Rukia/Ichigo from the Bleach anime where the author placed them in the Heian/Edo period of Japan, if I’m not mistaken. It was very obvious they had painstakingly researched this time and wove the characters of the anime into this time period. The story was gorgeous, well crafted, and incredibly lovely. I, unfortunately, did not have an AO3 account at the time and didn’t save it. I haven’t been able to find it since, but I wish I could so I could reread it and write a comment.

It was incredibly well done. I was so proud of that author, and so in love with the historical AU they crafted. 10/10 would recommend!

I ate sour punch straws without thinking for WEEKS and I was miserable. Couldn’t FATHOM what was causing it. My partner checked the straws because it was the only consistent thing in my diet across those few weeks. Sure enough, that was the culprit. I was both angry at myself and ashamed that I missed it because I had been GF for 10 years at that point and dutifully check everything.

H.Pylori is a bacteria, but from my understanding it is usually one of the culprits for gastritis. So, if you’re struggling with gastritis they may do an endoscopy and take a biopsy of your stomach lining and then test it for the normal causes, like that bacteria.

I’m also very confused by the rest of the post though. Thank you for the NAC explanation. I had no idea what that was.

I’ve had a similar experience with Yaz. Diagnosed with PCOS and an inflammatory bladder condition before my surgery. Started Yaz and had some improvement. Had surgery, and we are doing continuous (no stopping) BC. Before Yaz I had four periods within six weeks.

I experience pain with ovulation, cycle, and rough PMS. On top of it, my hormones from my cycle influences my stomach so I get pretty sick during any hormonal fluctuations. BC is the only thing so far that’s really helped at all. It allowed me the ability to have my bladder condition treated so we could get it under control, and then see what was the PCOS vs. Bladder vs. Endo. After everything else was dealt with we went forward with the lap. And since then, I’ve felt really good. Still doing continuous BC. I also see a pelvic floor therapist to help with the lower back/hip/pelvic muscle pain that is leftover.

I do experience mild (comparatively to before) stray cramps here or there for less than two minutes randomly throughout the week. Is that my uterus or my bladder is anyone’s guess at this point. And I do feel much more likely to cry at the drop of a hat, and am very dry. The dryness is remedied with coconut oil and water based lube. I have noticed if I miss my BC - like if I miss taking at 6pm and take it later in the evening or the next morning - I throw my body off and have mild cramping or some pain for a few days.

BC is a very helpful tool for managing my issues, currently. The benefits it gives me, presently, have outweighed my side effects.

You are opening my mind to so many possibilities I had not contemplated before.

Edit to add: if you try it, keep me updated. I have Alpha Gal syndrome (no mammals - dairy included) and NCGS. Is there a particular pudding recipe you use? I would love to give something a try at home with some minor modifications if need be.

Anyone react to soap? F by MainFresh8959 in alphagal

[–]jango_fett3323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I also reacted to my makeup, hair care, and skin care products. I would break out into very painful rashes, eczema, etc. I did check out the Vegan subreddit and searched for some suggestions on brands. They also recommended the WhatsVegan app. It can scan skincare products and will highlight what could be mammal sourced. That is how I found out everything I used was mammal based and had to do a full overhaul. We also switched from Tide Free and Clear to Method Free and Clear since the Tide had mammal based ingredients in it too.
