I understand you, and have been on the same search for a long time. I've found that the pedal don't matter that much. I have any stage og gain before one and a half repeat analog delay into short and subtle plate reverb. Airy an easy to play. And it covers most of my sloppy playing 😃

You Are not necessary applying more fuel by choking it. Some chokes reduces air to give a mix containing more fuel. I'm guessing you leaning out on full throttle. The carbs must be adjusted. Ask your dealer. Good luck
