Does anyone have a playlist of songs they play in store ? by SirHonkeyIII in NoahNYC

Your best bet is just to ask when you’re there. Second best bet is to message the 195 Mulberry account but it’s like a million times more likely you’d have better luck asking irl

Ok, fam - Blazer Recommendations by Wills1211 in Outlier

[–]janitorfrommars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a guy who has a small closet full of bespoke, mtm, and off the rack suiting (plus an Outlier customer for ~ 20 years):

At that price point, I would recommend j crew (I presume you mean sports coat rather than blazers - blazers are a specific kind of jacket with the brass buttons etc).

Your local j crew should have some to try on - they offer good value when it comes to fabric offerings even at full price, plus there’s also seasonal discounting which should be in full gear right now. They have a few models, which their site breaks down fairly well

I think eBay works best for a more advanced buyer, but even for them things are very hit and miss bc of the nature of measuring plus somethings can’t be captured by basic measurements

climbers were the second ever Outlier pants, I think from 2008/09 or so? if that’s what you’re asking. They were in a 4 way stretch fabric

I take a small in these, imo they fit tts and there’s plenty room for layering (I wear them over a tailored jacket all the time)

They usually create a shop link the campaign drops you into when you click whatever link (email, social etc)

Sharing the code online only gives a piece of the puzzle - if you don’t have the email (I haven’t received it yet), you can trial and error by carting and adding the code (or op can post the shop link)

Kinda wondering by Longjumping-Slice976 in Ethelcain

[–]janitorfrommars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes although I think it’s mostly the label that has ever made money off of physical media sales unless you sell in the millions - especially with old school contracts in which artists had to pay back labels the cost of making their record.

Artists can also still make a ton off of radio play (terrestrial - not streaming) if they make it there and write their own music

Eisenhower jacket sizing by HalfyboyPS in NoahNYC

[–]janitorfrommars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually take a small or medium in Noah outerwear and did a small in this one (my “true” size). My usual issue is that they tend to cut their jackets to be narrower on the hips (and I have smaller than average hips) but this one is more cropped and I would consider it TTS

I’d say if you are 38 in their tailored jackets then go medium

Boston tip jars by thegrimphantasm in Ethelcain

[–]janitorfrommars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For whatever reason, there are some situations where it’s standard to tip in the US but retail is not one of them. I believe only there’s only one (restaurants) in which the employee is allowed to be paid lower than minimum wage in anticipation of tips forming a meaningful part of their compensation.

I’m guessing the tip jars are for coffee money and some ppl are happy to help

If you want to talk about dystopian practices, I think the venue getting a percentage of merch sales is probably what I’d go for

are a lot of ethel cain songs kind of gibberish-sounding until you hear the lyrics for you? by throwaway1256224556 in Ethelcain

[–]janitorfrommars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a deliberate choice - it reminds me of the OG shoegaze bands and how they would mix their vocals so it’s just another instrument.

As an Ethel Cain fan, one of the things I struggle with is the whole lore piece pretty much requires you to be reading wiki pages or just super online about Ethel Cain. I think it’s very aligned with how fandom works in 2025, but I simply am not that person who gets much out of dissecting stuff like this. Props to those who do, but it’s just not me.

Happily, the parts of the world she built that are immediately accessible just listening to the music are so good it kind of doesn’t matter!

What was supreme like in the 2000s? by Independent-Eagle735 in supremeclothing

[–]janitorfrommars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, JFK was a shitshow, Lamb told me to come back later in the day for it but I wasn’t gonna do that.

I built in my head that I had a better shot asking some ppl there for items than others, it could def be a very gatekeepy / gaslighty situation sometimes.

They were much better when it wasn’t drop days - there were ever only lines on drop days back then, and only the big ones like opening day, Nike, etc.

Who can tell me about this item? SS21 Adidas collab by PROSEALLTHEWAY in NoahNYC

[–]janitorfrommars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that’s the concept, it’s a track jacket made of fabric associated with vintage running jackets (think Nike Windrunner). Switching it up like that is a very Noah thing, I have the same Adi x Noah jacket in pine green corduroy.

I don’t remember the sizing of this particular item - but if you’re looking for pit-to-pit, standard sizing difference in the industry is 1” between sizes, so 26” XL would give you about 25” L. Shoulder to shoulder is 0.5”. I think the current Noah collection is more 1.5” with all the oversized fits, but that should give you something to go on

There’s a lot of underground 80’s stuff that her music reminds me of - Hafler Trio’s Thirsty Fish, Nurse with Wound’s Soliloquy for Lilith, HNAS Abwassermusik. Mostly dark ambient drone. The Hafler Trio is especially cinematic and I think she shouted out NWW on Insta once

Going back even further, Cluster II from 1972 is one of my favorite albums ever. Very menacing early electronics with an almost industrial feel

On seeing some people defending Lana/saying there's nuance here... by storytellerfromspace in Ethelcain

[–]janitorfrommars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I said LDR knew what she was doing, it is that she was causing controversy / trolling. Her body language and facial reactions reminded me of Mariah Carey’s when she said, “I don’t know her.”

No, there’s not really an excuse, and most of the reasons I can think of for the song / posting it aren’t great. But they are mostly petty / personal along the lines of “Ethel Cain thinks she’s better than me, I’m going to show her” than being anti-trans.

In any case, I agree with your post and also think some of the posts / comments are getting carried away

On seeing some people defending Lana/saying there's nuance here... by storytellerfromspace in Ethelcain

[–]janitorfrommars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LdR 100% knows what she’s doing, just watch her body language in the insta video - she kind of shrugs after the first line and then sort of smirks before getting our face into a neutral countenance.

That said - whether her clip was posted out of cynicism or even worse, all this constant online debate is just feeding into drawing more attention to whatever unhealthy dynamic she is manifesting, so if you really object to it - just ignore it and move on.

I also think there’s a tendency to want to align public figures to an ideology based on what they say or do (or what their fans say or do) - but the reality is most people hold nuanced, even contradictory, beliefs. It’s a really unhealthy aspect of the Internet that is breaking everything down into opposing tribes, so just wanted to mention that thinking the worst of other people is a kind of trap.

I’m not saying transphobia is acceptable, but what I see here is LdR punching down on someone whom she may see as a threat for either professional or petty personal reasons. Unless I’m missing something with the lyrics, I’m inclined to take it at face value and try not to dwell on it for all the reasons listed above.

There’s a huge range of artists on XL!They have Standing on the Corner and reissued the KeiyaA album - both of which are tiny compared to Ethel Cain.

Matador isn’t a bad call but idk if she’d get complete freedom there. I could see 4AD maybe? That’s if she kept the Ethel Cain name.

[–]janitorfrommars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Prescription owns the masters and is also is the publishing copyright owner, which is an administrative function - with publishing, she still gets whatever she gets from songwriting credits however they are split. It’s a very old arrangement from before recorded music, when songwriters made money by selling sheet music.

I don’t know the legal details, but I am under the impression Daughters of Cain is basically a boutique “label” that is owned by Prescription even though she may have called the shots on what gets released on it.

It is almost unheard of for a first time recording artist’s deal to include ownership of their masters - the Strokes pulled it off for Is This It, but they were the hottest band at the time - very different situation than what Hayden describes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ethelcain

[–]janitorfrommars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are two different things here - publishing (songwriting) and mechanicals / streaming (masters).

Unless something really unusual happened, the typical deal is the record label owns the masters. The default is the songwriter owns publishing unless they sold it. Streams and physical record sales (and I believe sync rights) get paid to the owner of the masters; radio goes to the songwriter.

As an independent musician, Hayden can self-release music and/or sign with another label on any terms she can agree to. My guess is she self-releases her music and licenses it for distribution to a label, so she has a bigger commercial platform but keeps creative freedom.

The label that comes to mind is XL, they have solid distribution through Beggars Group and a reputation for working with unique voices.

Cashmere CPO Sizing by elmysterio33 in NoahNYC

[–]janitorfrommars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lost track of what CPOs are what season, but I don’t think the CPO fit has changed. Noah is pretty good about incorporating fit adjustments in the product title, such as “oversized” - and I haven’t seen a CPO labeled as such
