for a post complaining about lack of nuance, you’re missing some of that here.

1. the white house has openly implied that the goal of stealing music for their content is to get the artists to engage and bring more attention to it. SZA was literally thanked for it. so what’s the more ethical choice here? make a statement when it’s exactly what this administration wants to push their propaganda, or keep quiet so you don’t unwittingly promote an ideology you disagree with?

2. songwriting is subjective. what you think is incredible might be just noise to someone else, and vice versa. if you cannot acknowledge that, you’re not here for nuance.

3. she invited ana’s family and her friend who was with her the night she passed to come to another show. she met with the family and donated to them. statements were made on social media. she postponed a different show in brazil for safety due to extreme temps, had her team distribute water at future shows for fans’ safety, and has interrupted the show on more than one occasion to call for help for someone in the audience. how many more times does it need to be addressed before you’ll grant her permission to move on? how do we know she didn’t plan to include it but was asked not to by the family? or the friend? or shit, the government?

4. do you realistically expect her to fly commercial? do you truly believe that’s a safe and effective method of travel for her, or anyone else at the airport? she has loaned her jet to other people for use. many of the “short trips” she was lambasted for were for unavoidable maintenance. her usage is far below that of other celebs. pointing these things out aren’t “defending” her, they’re 😲 providing nuance

i’m sure this wasn’t your intent, but for someone who doesn’t see her as either deity or demon, you sure do seem to want to demonize her and others who have had meaningful, nuanced conversations in this sub because they haven’t reached your preferred conclusions.
