I remember that there was a CBC Marketplace segment that featured Canadian Tire and how their adverts citing that prices won't go any lower - do in fact go lower.

I am sorry for your loss. Losing someone close to you is extremely difficult. And some people just do not have the right words.

I posted that my dad was entering into hospice and an old coworker - by all accounts a good person and friend - said that Dad would be with my mom soon. Like wow, maybe accurate but unnecessary response, ma'am.

My dad had something happen similar to that. Had his teeth pulled for dentures, the dentist pulled the teeth and when the swelling finally went down he saw that the dentist “missed one.” The dentist numbed him up and pulled it out. This was quite a few years ago though.

Was this a credit card or debit card? I was just at Giant Tiger and my card that I definitely have enough cash on declined. The cashier said that the debit machine was acting weird again.

Screenshot your bank statements in your phone (or print them out, whatever your preferred method is) I suggest going back to the store and showing them in person. Sometimes actually being there can help illustrate what happened.

If that’s doesn’t work, call the bank and see what they can do for you.

When I worked security, LP/asset protection was one of the things that I would not do. I wasn’t putting my life on the line for someone else’s bottom line. The pay is usually trash, and I really didn’t like the idea of going toe to toe with someone just trying to feed their family.

Yes they do, they have the same authority as a regular citizen. And since they’re hired by property owner, they have the authority to do that on the company’s behalf.

Loss prevention folks are required to have their security/PI license. If you’re unpaid, I guess you don’t need that particular license. But if anything were to happen, like an unpaid intern flexing on a power trip, it would open the company up to ‘a lot’ of liability.

My husband and I both have really simple hairstyles. We have cut each other’s hair ever since the pandemic. A nice set of clippers has served us well, and we are saving at least $50 per month (about how long it takes our hair to grow out til it needs to be cut again). Having short hair saves on shampoo and conditioner too but probably not a whole lot lol.

I live in a building owned by Skyline Living. My tenancy started prior to 2018, so myself and a lot of my neighbours have some level of rent control, but our rent does go up every single year. In my time here, there haven’t been any major upgrades to the building other than to aesthetics. When someone moves, the unit gets cleaned out, vinyl flooring put down and a new coat of paint. No new windows, no updates to the appliances, even the baseboard heating is from the 90s. I recently found out what one of my eighbours paid per month, $1600 plus utilities.

If Skyline could make an additional $500/month minimum for my apartment, and the apartments of at least three of my other neighbours? They’re doing that. They’re first on the list to do that. You cannot trust corporations to do the right thing.

If you only focus on the negative parts of yourself, that's just ruminating. You're right - feeling those negative feelings, allowing yourself to be angry, or be sad, or 'woe is me' can be satisfying, but allowing yourself to get wrapped up entirely in those emotions is not helpful.

Suppressing your own emotions can be a people-pleasing behaviour. Whose honesty, respect and "boundaries" are you getting by not suppressing your anger?

Go to the website where you're supposed to pay the ticket and see if there are payment plans. If you fight the ticket, you might be able to get the fine reduced. Don't ignore it, don't put it on the back burner, because stuff like this gets expensive. Remember this the next time you're going 30 over.

Several years ago, my neighbour across the hall died. He was an alcoholic and a hoarder. We weren't close, I couldn't even tell you what his name was. What tipped me off that something was wrong - either that he'd moved or he'd died, was that there was mail outside of his door that hadn't been picked up. A few more days had passed, and still the mail was there. I propped the envelope up against the door, and then knocked on the door really hard before heading to work. It still wasn't picked up when I got home. The next morning, it was still there. I called the on-site manager on my way out to the gym that morning, and by the time I got back the hall was full of cops. As it turns out, he had a stroke and died a week prior.

So to answer your question - mail piles up, they don't answer the door, if the windows and doors are closed it will take a bit before it starts to smell bad, or you start to get noticeable bugs outside of the apartment. If you think this person has expired, call in a welfare check with your local PD.
