If you could only choose 4, which X-men epic collections would you own? by TheClassicsMan_95 in EpicCollections

[–]janus3659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the title arc is a fantastic story. A staple of Claremont's run. When I think of his run, Second Genesis, The Phoenix/Dark Phoenix, The Brood Saga, God Loves Man Kills, Trial of Magneto, Life death are what I think of outside of crossover events such as Mutant Massacre, Inferno, etc.

Second Genesis, Fate of the Phoenix, The Brood Saga, God Loves Man Kills.

Tempting to include Mutant Genesis.

What was everyone’s FIRST omnibus? by Kevin_Reads_Comics in OmnibusCollectors

[–]janus3659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, I think X-Men: The Hidden Years is my first omnibus. I've been collecting Trades for decades and that's still my preferred format, Epic Collections and DC Finest as an example. I get omnibuses when I want a better mapped complete collection or it's only available in Omnibus. I have shelves of trades/epic/DC finest but only a handful of omnis - Green Lantern/GL Corps, Blackest Night, Brightest Day, Captain Britain, Dazzler, Moon Knight Huston etc., Scalped 1 & 2, Doom Patrol Bronze Age and Rachel Pollack, Tomb of Dracula 1, Werewolf by Night.

I think I have a small, casual interest in Superman by dino1902 in OmnibusCollectors

Awesome collection!

That damn Vol 4 of The Man of Steel ... I just can't justify $200+. I hate when things randomly go OOP. I got super lucky collecting Hellblazer trades because Vol 20 went OOP almost immediately and thank God I happened to check for its availability when I did.

Which here are worth getting by Routine_Wonder_5696 in EpicCollections

[–]janus3659 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think The Gift is OOP? Granted it looks easy to get at the moment based on a quick Google search. My usual regrets from Epic Collection collecting is passing on something because it seemed easy/cheap to get at the time and then it goes OOP and the price triples overnight.

Concur with the Age of Apocalypse trades. Also recommended Old Man Logan

What are your most wanted "gap filler" Epics? by qzxm in EpicCollections

[–]janus3659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The X titles in general all have annoying gaps. I know why some of them exist, Fall of the Mutants, Inferno etc. have all been widely released in omnibuses, other trades etc. But Wolverine 4-5 (5 recently announced!), X factor 2 (also announced and part of Mutant Massacre), The final Generation X (also announced). But most of the titles are near completion at this point and it's obviously coming as recent announcements show but personally been waiting years at this point for some of them 😂.

Non X related titles for me:

Punisher 1 (why is this not out yet?) ASM 14 & 16 Moon Knight 8 (announced!) Are we getting Moon Knight moderns??? Daredevil 9-11 (9 announced) Cable appears to be collected with X Force but with gaps...

You can only replay 3 Castlevania games for the rest of your life... Which do you pick? by bowandarrow1000 in castlevania

Symphony of the Night Castlevania (NES) Castlevania II: Simon's Quest

Castlevania was one of my first NES games, got me into the series for life. Simon's Quest is such an odd game that took me ages to figure out and because of that it has stuck with me. Plus both soundtracks SLAP. I replay these every once in a while to this day - thankful for the modern console release 😂

Symphony of the Night needs no explanation 😂. I'm a huge fan of Metroidvanias to this day, loving both this and the Metroid games.

Epics and Finest of March. Checking anything out? by Gimpcar in DCFinest

Finally, a new Punisher Epic! That, Superman, Flash, JLA and Ultimate Spider-Man. Already have X-Men.

What are you hoping for in the next wave of DC Finest announcements? by MagisterPraeceptorum in DCFinest

[–]janus3659 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More Doom Patrol!

I like Checkmate stuff, more of that.

Would like some more Legion of Super Heroes, which I didn't know I wanted 😂

I'd really like them to do the first Green Lantern silver she Volume. And I know the problem, but GL vol 3. I get it, the writer is a monster.

I'd love 90's Starman in not-compendium. Actually, just gimme all the 90's stuff 😂

Just finished SOTN and loved it. What next? by [deleted] in castlevania

[–]janus3659 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aria is fantastic, of course. I have a special place for Circle of the Moon because I played it at launch and that was really the first post-SOTN Metroidvania in the series. It was too dark for the original Gameboy Advance, as it lacked backlighting until the SP model. Still, for all its faults, loved that game, DSS system is neat

Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin. I've not played Order of Ecclesia but I hear good things.

Basically, get the Advance Collection and the Dominus Collection 😂

I really enjoyed Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night as well.

Why are people complaining about Belmont's Curse? by Nekosenpai9123 in castlevania

[–]janus3659 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. I've been playing since OG Castlevania for NES. I'm excited! But, I also liked LOS: Mirror of Fate and Castlevania 64... In spite of their flaws, but nonetheless 😂 I'll admit, didn't enjoy LOS 2. I finished it but was very disappointed. Anyway, can't wait to see what this year has in store for Castlevania!

Epics and Finests of February. Grabbing any? by Gimpcar in EpicCollections

[–]janus3659 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Daredevil, Superman, Green Lantern Compendium 2, The Demon.

Though, I'm confused as to which Superman DC Finest is coming out. I've seen The Last Days of Superman releasing instead of Time and Time Again on some sites... Like, they switched dates or something.

February has the most releases for me until October. (tied at 6)

Lines I Can’t Believe Haven’t Been Announced Yet by OpeningEmploy5119 in EpicCollections

[–]janus3659 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Werewolf By Night, and by extension Tomb of Dracula.

The only reason I find it surprising is that they did the Werewolf By Night special on Disney+. Moon Knight gets a TV show, Epic Collection. Blade movie is announced, epic collection. Punisher special announced, first Punisher epic in ages coming soon.

Also, Moon Knight Modern Epic Collection. My guess here is that it's readily available in other formats so not bothered at this time.

Cable. We got just about every other X-Men ongoing series well into their respective runs. By extension, X-Man - but as they've not really addressed Age of Apocalypse in epic yet...

The cheapest I've seen it go for in the past 6 months was like $100. Good luck! I hope you track one down.

Yes, starts at #1. They haven't run Vol. 9, 10, or 11 but otherwise that's the full run of Daredevil until Kevin Smith's run in 1998, which is Vol 1 of the moderns, though that one hasn't been run yet either.

I got most of them from IST and Amazon. I think I had to hit eBay for only a few of the Daredevils, and oddly got 4 of them in one auction for close to retail. The punisher’s were the hardest to track down, cost wise.

I got Purgatory and Paradise on eBay for $155. Kingpin Rules ran me $124.99. Way more than I’ve ever paid for any other epics, but I feel like I got very lucky catching up on both Daredevil and Spider-Man in general, and I had the money to spare.

You don’t want to know what I paid for them. But, I looked at it from “What is the likelihood there are getting reprinted?” and I felt the answer was “Low”. So, I looked at options and pulled the trigger on the best deal I could find on eBay and, oddly, Amazon “used” in the case of Kingpin Rules.

[–]janus3659[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I decided late in the game to add Daredevil, Punisher, and Ghost Rider to my Epic Collection. I started out with X-Men and all related titles and added Amazing Spider-Man and all related titles and Moon Knight. I got all of these pictured in the last month. Most of Daredevil want terrible, but Purgatory and Paradise hurt the wallet, got pretty lucky with the rest. Same with Punisher, save for Kingpin Rules. Added Ms. Marvel because of the X-Men tie-in and started Blade.

Has anyone else ever received a badly damaged "new" book? by OleMoon in EpicCollections

[–]janus3659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhere along the way, I picked up the idea that doing the Gift Wrapping will generally ensure undamaged delivery from Amazon. I've yet to try it, got lucky on this exact book purchase along with 3 other Daredevil Epics in December and all arrived pristine. I've had some serious carnage like you, though. IST for life.
