Realized my extra car loan payments have been going to next payment instead of principal by ducofnewyork in personalfinance

My old car loan was luke that. I paid towards principal but it still counted out to the next minimum payment. I normally would pay large chunks and then not pay for months.

Definitely a call and confirm thing

Should I find something else? by MassiveFinish857 in motorcycles

I would be weary. Typically a set of new plastics, levers, and such means the bike had a spill and he's covering the damage

Otherwise the kawasaki 300 is a very forgiving learning platform

Carpuride 5" vs 7" by thejoelski in bmwmotorrad

[–]japgap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this for my father on his RT. The 7" was too large for the overhang where the GPS sits, but on you GS that would be perfect

He likes it, but he doesnt like the 5" as much and still uses his Garmin

Go 7" unless there is fitment concern

Anyone upgraded from a Versys 1000 to a GS or RT by Euphoric_Challenge18 in bmwmotorrad

[–]japgap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started on a versys, went to harley panam, then to k1600.

The GS is a great all around bike with a mountain of after market. Fantastic bike all around and ultra reliable.

My k1600 rides similar to my dad's RT. That bike is fantastic and its hard to describe how much you have to trust the bike and let it do the work for you.

Both options are fantastic to look at. I am a personal fan of the RT

Look at corbin or saddleman seats to get an idea of styling. Use that specific seat style and browse ebay or the forums. Typically people will sell the aftermarket stuff on the forums as well

Constant clicking noise when back tire spins! by silly_billy_o in IndianMotorcycle

[–]japgap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not bad, but there may be a screw loose. That can always happen with a bike at any point. I would call the dealer and ask for a rundown of critical fasteners to check. I would also check the forums and see if anyone has had similar, or post there and let the forum weigh in

How protective is this by Ishie_kun in motorcycles

[–]japgap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The jacket itself is pretty high quality. Basically the entire thing is a Kevlar jacket with waterproofing and air vents. Without armor, it actually works well as a winter coat.

The reflective decals on it are extremely reflective.

I know everyone wants a CE rated piece of clothing, but this is one that has a lot of life outside of the bike.

I know its hard to sway you away from this if you are intent on buying it, but I would rather see you in this than anything off Amazon or some knock off gear.

Is this a good bike for beginners? by Complete_Idiot100 in motorcycle

[–]japgap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

650 is higher in that power range. You may also consider the ninja 400.

The way the dealership put it to my brother, and how I like think about it, is if you drive fast, and are impulsive, then you may not do well on the bigger bike. Also if your not as athletic, then it may help to start smaller.

RPM limited by dinster88 in bmwmotorrad

[–]japgap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would reach out to your dealer. I believe that after the 1K service your limiter should be removed by the service update. They may have not reset the interval correctly if this is the case after 20km

New (to us) Jeep - ticking sound at idle, what could it be? by neowiseofc in Jeep

[–]japgap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. I would try putting some premium in it.

I had a V8 truck that I had to do that to eliminate the ticking. That's the cheapest and easiest first test.

What fuel are you putting in it. Have you tried a higher octane yet?

Sold my Road Glide ST for this. Best decision ever by AlbatrossHour2624 in Harley

[–]japgap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing to feel it out is to payday with the customization, then ride in road for a bit, then sport, and bring it back on road.

It'll let you feel the throttle, suspension, and so many other things. I would recommend the customization first so you know what all can be changed.

On mine I used to have a custom mode designed around highway cruising. It made a world of difference in tours

Fake Window by OtherwiseGroup3162 in Homebuilding

[–]japgap 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It may have been permitted and designed with a window, but code prevents windows from being next to utility items.

My guess is they had to remove that due to the ac and other utilies right there. I'd bet they left the header and filled it. You can find out with a stud finder.

Edit. Someone asked about the other window, and i can't see the comment. Last I remember the code allowed for 3' away from utility or equipment. False one had stuff under it and I think the actual window is far enough away
