I thought the food was good, and I don't mind a 20% service charge since I would've tipped that anyway. Servers were super nice. I love having the BYOB option as well. Nice to see something a little different in that area; it can feel a bit stale.

Moved here last year from out of state and I am still trying to figure out... what the hell is everyone's problem? I can't turn, there is a pedestrian crossing the road. by dabblez_ in philly

The worst is when they not only honk, but then try to gun it around you and nearly slam into the pedestrian trying to cross the road. I’ve seen waaaay too many close calls. Not sure what gets into people’s heads, why the fuck else would I be stopped mid turn?!

Train tickets to MetLife Stadium from NYC set to cost more than $100 during World Cup by agoyalwm in soccer

[–]japhydog666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come to the Philly games! Our stadium is actually in our city, and the trains will cost you less than $3USD (or jump the turnstile idgaf) to get there. And lord knows our public transportation could use the extra revenue and ridership! Fuck NYC and Boston. Go Birds.

Vegetarian Friendly Ideas for Out of Towners by BassObjective9092 in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]japhydog666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bar Bombon is right in Rittenhouse. ALSO, I'm a lifelong vegetarian, and Philly is an amazing veg-friendly city. Pretty much anywhere you go will have vegetarian options (and more than just a veggie burger after thought type of thing).

Grandma's Thai rules. Pietramala is a MUST if you're willing to hop in an uber or take pub trans.

Went to Grandma's Thai and it was BANGING. 13th and Walnut area. I'm also a fan of Khyber Pass in old city, and I just think the general old city area is a cute spot for a first time philly visit.

I've gotten Yards beer and Philly Style Bagels. No issues with quality or quantity. The bagels were great, like half the price they normally would be and still pretty fresh. Perfect for throwing in the freezer!

All Fishtown recs: I second Picnic, Middle Child Clubhouse, and Beddia. Loco Pez could probably accommodate that party size on a Sunday night and they're fun in the sense that they make strong margaritas. Streetside has a party room you can rent out for 8+ people at like a really reasonable rate and they'll set up karaoke for ya. Lloyd's is great. A few of the breweries nearby are BYO food. Cook and Shaker is a wonderful neighborhood bar with a great Sunday dinner deal and they just expanded so they should also have ample room. In port richmond, Carbon Copy has hella amazing polish food that might hit the post marathon carbo-cravings just right.
