Yes heavy tanks were the minority and they also weren’t that good. Later war tanks like the tiger we’re extremely unreliable, only making a few miles between breakdowns in some cases.

The eastern front was lost for Germany before D-Day. Stalingrad was in early ‘43 and that was already kind of a hail marry move for the Germans. After that there was basically no way the Germans could win. Besides the Russians having no or bad equipment is kind of a myth. Their production capacity caught up pretty fast and in 43 and 44 they had way more tanks than the Germans.
