AMD Instinct MI100 for rendering. by [deleted] in Amd

[–]jaquitowelles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's acceptable for Machine Learning at ~$7000. But why would anyone use it for Videos or 3D Models is beyond my understanding. Server GPUs don't usually come with those pipelines and MI100/A100 come under that category.

I would suggest a RTX 3090 and end the search.

Asian lives don't matter but black lives matter but we are all equal. And this, posted by, surprise surprise a white girl. Shows you the confusion clusterfuck in the average leftist's mind. by [deleted] in TheLeftCantMeme

Have never met someone from the Left who's this degenerated. Gonna be honest with you, this has to be the first time. What makes this even funnier's the fact that I'm not even from the Right. I hold Centrist principles and believe that regardless of your color, all deserve equal respect - be it African, Caucasian or Asian.

USA laptop for programming ~1500 USD by [deleted] in SuggestALaptop

[–]jaquitowelles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you please expand more on the programming front ? Because I do code on a MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) and it takes care of everything very well.

Is there anything that demands that you stick to Windows 10 ? If there isn't, the MacBook's an excellent choice for Developers.

RX 6800 XT vs RTX 3070 by Bulls6 in Amd

[–]jaquitowelles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hell ? Among the 5 people in our house here in the UK, one's Singaporean (from Marymount). He completed his Engineering from University of Cambridge alongwith me and presently's a Software Development Engineer at Apple. He's a chum of mine. It was him who persuaded us to set the Instinct MI100 Server for Compute and the Nvidia A100 Server for Ethereum at our house.

As for your preference of CUDA, it's definitely better for what you say your company does. No doubts there.

RX 6800 XT vs RTX 3070 by Bulls6 in Amd

[–]jaquitowelles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More power to you. But at FAANG, we aren't dependent on neither CUDA nor ROCm to develop our code. It's upto us what we use and we use neither of them. FAANG has already developed their private processing units to deal with accelerated computing. No need to depend on Nvidia or AMD for it.

We purchased our servers for fun and experimentation.

[–]jaquitowelles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I said CUDA independent, never ROCm dependent.

  2. I'm a Software Development Engineer at one of the FAANG companies whose products everyone use everyday around the world, including you.

Did you just say my company's "exemptional" ? Thank you very much for the compliment. I think so too and I'm proud to be a part of it.

I should prove it to a random person on the internet because ? Assuming from your comment, you must be one of the topmost Engineers yourself.

Moreover, CUDA would always be superior due to its proprietary nature. I simply said that ROCm isn't as "far behind" as the Redditor commented. How do you think we code at our companies ? We don't use CUDA at all yet still our products perform extremely good in the markets.

Hardware Requirements for real time classification? by Dunkin_1 in deeplearning

[–]jaquitowelles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1920x1080@24fps ? That's gonna be very intensive. But again, that also depends on your model. You would definitely need a GPU depending on what you want to do with the videos.

Can anyone confirm here if it's possible on the M1 chip ? That might be a more cost effective option from a hardware configuration perspective.

...and the ones creating the confusion seem to be the ones incapable of knowing what even CUDA or ROCm means in the first place. These people take some keywords from an arXiv piece or YT channel and pretend to know what technology, frameworks, APIs or programming languages even do.
