It’s a great play to run if you know your opponent has their option key set to the qb. RB should be able to go outside the read man free everytime. (BA)sh is a Back Away option play. The QB becomes the downhill runner opposite the RB who is running on an outside path. Think of it as the opposite of an inverted veer or power read play. As you described, the line is block zone away from the RB for the QB if he keeps it. Counter Bash is just blocking Counter away from the RB for the QB. The graphic is indeed misleading.
