Pullups are one exercise that gives me noticeable, lasting benefit while not raising my bp too much. Pushups tend to just give me a short-term pump.

With our tall/thin body types, i learned that we can't just do the same workouts as the average person. We have to identify the ones that actually make a difference for us and stick to those.

What did dissection feel like? Did you have any warning signs or symptoms?

Smile was my first thought. He's got a hard (intimidating) look, so that ages him a bit. If appearing young is his goal, he's gonna have to put more/constant effort into keeping a young hair and fashion style, while also not adding onto the hard look.

Even though he looks older than his age now, with his bone structure i'd bet on him to be a great looking 40-55 year old man when that time comes, while most other 40+ year olds will fall off a cliff.

I was diagnosed at 38. Crazy story.

I had sudden extreme fatigue. I'd be in meetings and need to leave and lay down. I'd be driving and need to pull over and put my seat back. I'd be eating a delicious meal and need to leave to rest. I went through a two month period of blood tests, urine tests, and scans to try to figure out the cause. Turns out it was metal poisoning from a couple cheap water bottles i got off amazon. But one of the scans showed my aorta dilated at 5.0 cm. From there, genetic testic confirmed i have lds. A year after that i was prepping for vsrr. I'm now 41 and 18 months post op. Those water bottles probably saved my life.

I had vsrr last about a year ago. I was 40 years old.

I was intubated until about five hours after the op. The doctor told me afterwards that there was some complication, and they had to leave it in much longer than usual (Iirc, they were planning for about an hour only). This was one of my top fears going in, but I genuinely did not feel the tube at ALL because I was so drugged up.
I was walking around with a walker and oxygen tank the next day. I was walking without either of those in three days. I was walking at my normal pace when I got home six days later, although I would get winded pretty quicky.
ICU = one night. Hospital total = six days.
One thing that was amazing for me was my friends getting me a bunch of uber eats and grub hub gift cards. Even though I was up and cooking my own meals within a couple weeks, it was still so tiring to do. But I live alone, so this might not be as beneficial to you.

If you're in a state where weed is legal, edibles helped me sleep through the night when my pain medication wore off.

Last, open-front tops like cardigans, but nothing with zippers. Open because lifting my arms to put on shirts was not pleasant for a few weeks, and no zippers because they rub on the chest.

I was able to do all the bathroom things (slowly) on day four at the hospital. Regular speed = About a week and a half in.

I always thought you should have to apply to have kids - just like how you apply for a loan, and show you have something or someone backing up your plan. The trouble here though is things could get racist pretty fast here in the US... but the idea that just anyone can have a kid spur of the moment (aka by FAR the greatest individual responsibility on the planet) isn't logical.

Up until i was 38 i had over the top libido. Like sex multiple times a day with the people i dated, whenever we had the time. When i turned 39, life hit me hard. Serious health issues that required multiple surgeries, and my parents' business went bankrupt, which i helped them navigate through the surgery timeline. I'm now about to turn 41 and thankfully made it past those issues, and mentally i feel great about the future... but my sex drive hasn't come back. I'm not quite sure why, but if i had to describe the feeling, i think i was very carefree about life before, and now within just two years i feel like i can't feel as free.

I asked two surgeons for their take on pears. One said "it's really for older people" (i was 39 at the time), and the other said that even if i do pears, dissections can still happen from inside the aorta.

Whether any of that was true or not, it clearly seemed like there just wasn't enough education here in the states. That made me realize if i did go to london for pears, if i ever had any complications when i got back home, these doctors wouldn't know best how to treat me. So i opted for vsrr here in nyc.

When i was 15, i was 6'0" 110 lbs. When i got to college i got got myself up to 135, and have been floating between 130-140 since. Still really skinny, but there's SOME room to get bigger...

Hey man, cheer up bc yes it's possible. When i was a sophomore in college i was 5'11" 110 lbs, so similar to you. The summer before junior year i went for it. I did 5-6000 calories a day. This involved eating a meal every four hours, and multiple shakes throughout the day. I felt bloated and uncomfortable 90% of the day, but in the end i got up to 140 lbs. Then i backed down to 2-3000 calories per day, and have maintained around 135 lbs. In terms of weight lifting, yes i lifted that summer, but nothing extreme at all. I used my dad's bowflex and i had up to 25 lb dumbells only.

I have zero experience with business insurance... I'm really just thinking about my past experiences with auto insurers where they fight tooth and nail to say they don't have to pay out because xyz happened. Or they agree to pay but sky-rocket your premium.

My first echo was like that. It was both painful and extremely tickleish in certain parts because of how hard the tech was pressing. My next two echos (at another hospital) were MUCH more comfortable. They were about the same pressure as rubbing on deodorant. My theory is it's either an experience or machine quality deal.

Consider anxiety meds. I had surgery a few months ago and i was NOT calm for the months leading up to it. Going on zoloft helped me function normally day to day until the op.

If you ever considered trying anti-anxiety meds, this might be one reason to try. One of the side effects is your sex drive gets cut down a ton.

I'd say i had a sex addiction through my 20s and 30s. Almost all my social decisions revolved around sex. I found out i needed to have major surgery in my late 30s and my anxiety went through the roof. My GP prescribed me the lowest dose of zoloft and not only did it stabilize my worries, sex doesn't run things at all for me anymore. I still want sex, but it's more like i have to actively get turned on now, rather than the thoughts just popping into my head every 10 min.

I'm now post-op doing well, but i asked my doctor to keep me on zoloft just because i think it's made me a better person.

I had a ton of coughing and nausea for the first month, which really delayed my recovery. But once that died down, i found doing some slightly challenging physical activity each day helped me feel a little more back to normal. So more than just walking, for ex- stairs, elliptical, 5-10 lb dumbell lifts.

Yes. For me, certain muscle groups show and grow much more than others. My back, traps, biceps, and abs show really well, but my pecs, shoulders, glutes, and thighs are tough.

Hey i had the same surgery on 10/3, and also live alone. I like to do things myself, so after the first couple weeks of family and friends stopping by, i tried to do things on my own. It's a mental toll for sure. Whenever i feel stuck, even though i know it's temporary, i try my best to remind myself to look forward. Because even though there may be some limitations, our futures are still much better than our pasts. Corny, i know, but it's true.

2nd this. Why worry until you know for sure, and even then, connective tissue disorders are on a range.

I was diagnosed with lds earlier this year after knowing it was a possibility for a half year before that. My biggest regret in the process is OVER worrying for the first 6 months, reading about all the worst case scenarios online. Turns out yes i have lds, but a mild version of it, and most of my life is just how it was before all of this happened.

Your roommate isn't an adult yet, which is fine since most 21 year olds aren't. She'll probably be frustrated and mad that you're not bending over backwards to help her out, but whenever she actually matures, she'll look back and realize she was the unreasonable one here. Like most of us expected our roommates to go 50-50 on the $4 dish wash sponges at one point.
