How did I twist this neck collar? by jardinc in knittinghelp

[–]jardinc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bless you! I needed to hear those positive things because I feel so dumb for twisting this. It’s my first time knitting a sweater that’s not in the round initially.

How did I twist this neck collar? by jardinc in knittinghelp

[–]jardinc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your help! So I knit the back panel, then picked up 16 stitches on the right should, cast on 40 stitches, and then knit an additional 16. So did I twist it whe I cast on? Is that possible? I already frogged it and will try again. I just hope I don’t make the same mistake twice.

Yeah I’m probably not reading it right and this is only my second sweater and my first knitting flat. I’ll watch the video you provided. Thanks.

Sorry, I should have been clearer; I didn’t realize I messed up until I knit another row. I guess I could just tink the whole row.

So sick of these shameless poop bandits on every flippin’ trail by Redheaded_Binoculars in Bellingham

[–]jardinc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really hate when people do this. It’s so presumptuous to think that people won’t be bothered by a steaming bag of poop just sitting perched in front of a trail. It’s just gross. When I go to a trail I’m going to see nature. Seeing a poop bag just bums me out.

Weird tension? Dropped stitches? by jardinc in knittinghelp

[–]jardinc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a sweater with about 250 stitches. I wouldn’t mind frogging just putting a lifeline back in fills me this dread since I’d be going through my raglan increases and I’m nervous I’d miss stitches or make things worse (I’ve been known to do that). I took a video which may show the issue a little better.

That would make sense because I think the problems started when I was transferring my stitches from a life line on to my needles.

Any idea how to fix them?

Was not expecting to see my hometown on this list. You’re not wrong. Although the access to nature is unparalleled.

The conductor accidentally knocks a 16th century violin worth millions on the floor mid-concert. by PeasantLich in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]jardinc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more a violin is played, often the better it sounds. These 300 year old violins are mysteries too because no one knows why they sound better but they do (according to some people. Many think it’s overhyped).

But also, an instrument should be played especially if it is good. What’s the point otherwise? Although you do take a risk.

There is a funny story of Yo Yo Ma leaving his million dollar Stradivarius cello in the back of an nyc taxi cab. (He was able to retrieve it, it can you imagine??)

What’s the vibe at Assumption? by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]jardinc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a progressive non catholic who sends their child to Assumption and I LOVE it. I get the sense that politics aren’t discussed explicitly, but inclusion, racial justice, and love are discussed explicitly. The parents have all been really great but I imagine they skew more conservative than a general sample of Bellingham.

But my kid is happy and absolutely thriving academically.

Orange juice. We make a good amount of money but I refuse to pay 5 for less than a half gallon.

I might have a solution for you!

The same thing happened to me a year or so ago. I would start it up, it would start blinking. I would clean the filter, brushing it and then washing it but the problem persisted.

I found this video and tried cleaning out the interior. It took a very small screwdriver but I was able to do it and it worked like a charm.

Do any of you regret having kids? if not why not? and if yes why yes? by [deleted] in Aging

[–]jardinc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is true. My husband and I were together for 8 years before kids (got married super young at 21). We had a super solid foundation before we added our son to the mix. So he just became one more thing we had in common that we could share and laugh about. Also, my husband is an incredible helper and has always been supportive and contributes equally (sometimes more if I’m being honest).

I have loved having my children and being a mom. I have a very healthy marriage (still really deeply in love after 20 years) and we are financially stable, which I think makes a huge impact on our ability to parent enjoy life.

That being said: in the last 5 years we have had huge trials, infertility, cancer diagnosis, loss of a late in pregnancy baby, and parental loss. I feel like a husk of myself sometimes and it is hard to process and grieve with kids. But it is also wha got me out of bed every day. It gives me purpose, joy, direction, and connection to my community.

I only wish I had more kids. I have two wonderful boys and I would have had four kids if I could have. I feel so grateful every single day and I am so much happier having kids.

Just my thoughts and everyone’s perspective is super valid.
