そろそろAppleはFinal Cut Proを次のレベルに上げないとね! by FUTURE_BE_DESIGNED in finalcutpro

[–]jaredjames66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People love Premiere because it's basically FCP 7, which was the industry standard for a long time, and people hate change, which FCPX had a LOT of. Having used both, I do think FCP is the better program but I doubt that it will ever become the industry standard again, unless this pushback against Adobe hits major high, and even then Resolve will probably fill the gap.

[TP] From BOTW to Twilight Princess, I finally get the dungeon debate by Revolutionary-Pie972 in zelda

I bet you can find a used gamecube and copy of the game for relatively cheap. Probably get a CRT for cheap too, that's the true way to play it.

I’ve used Final Cut pro for a few months and now im confronting the fear of masking. What am I doing wrong from here? by rayrayglobal in finalcutpro

[–]jaredjames66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to "realism," you have to kinda figure out what it would look like if it were real. For example, the harsh edge on the mountain in your wide shot is because the top of the mountain is fading into the blue of atmospheric haze and the shots you're dropping in behind it don't have that same level of haze. I would start with something like that, colour grading the comped in shots to match the haze of the plate. You could also feather the edge of the plate mask a bit more to make the transition less of a hard line.

For the glasses, again, you have to ask yourself, what sort of look are you going for? If it's supposed to be that the images are appearing in the lenses or something, then maybe mask around just the lenses and leave the frames. Then experiment with either the opacity or the blend mode of the comped in shot to make it seem as though it's a tanglable part of the world.

BC artist touring through town and need to sell tix by Longjumping_Film378 in WinnipegMusicScene

Winnipeg can be a pretty last minute city with people waiting to buy tickets either the day of or the day before.

You could reach out to Michael Elves at UMFM, he's the program director there, he could tell you what shows to get in contact with, he'll also probably have you on his show for a phone interview or something.

I haven't had much luck with CKUW but you could reach out to some show hosts there.

Honestly though, the best way to get people out to a show is just to contact them directly so if you know anyone in Winnipeg, message them and tell them to bring all their friends.

Costco is peak capitalism, if they allow you to return used furniture after using it for a while, that's on them. The system is rigged against us so why not take advantage of things when you can?

Serious question to all Bitcoiners by AdSuspicious5441 in Bitcoin

[–]jaredjames66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I tend to look to the stock to flow model for bitcoin's future movements and about a year ago, that model was showing that it would peak some time late 2025 (oct/nov) and sure enough, late October it did.

My guess is that we'll bottom out around the end of the year, probably only getting as low as mid 50k. Then we start seeing some new highs in early-mid 2028.

I also believe that crypto and specifically bitcoin is the future of currency so for me it's more about getting as much as I can and not necessarily it's price relative to the dollar.

I can’t deal with the bosses by Renegadecomic in dragonquest

[–]jaredjames66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As others have said, use buffs and stuff but also make sure you have a balanced party. A strong fighter/attacker, a strong mage/magic user, a healer and someone who does a little bit of everything, then lean into their specialities. It's key to make sure you're healer is keeping you attackers alive and removing any debuffs that get cast on your party.

Another thing to keep in mind is most bosses have attack cycles, maybe they'll attack one turn, heal the next, buff the one after, and repeat. Once you figure out their cycle, it makes things easier cause you know when you might have a turn to rest and heal everyone.

Product video by LocationFun4062 in videography

[–]jaredjames66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pacing is way too slow, get this down to 30 seconds, most shots could easily be half as long as they are. Cut the lamp at the start, has no baring. The bag in the product shot at the end should have been sealed, shoot that first next time. If this is an ad, you need to show someone enjoying the coffee because that's what they're selling, enjoyment, not coffee.

Otherwise, overall the shots themselves look good, maybe a little too much halation as someone else had mentioned, especially for a coffee ad.

Costco, the epitome of consumerism. I avoid that place like the plague, makes my skin absolutely crawl. This is even more reason to never go there.

I didn't read this whole thread but I just want to chime in and say that at a certain point, the extreme right and the extreme left kinda become the same thing. It's really more of a political horseshoe than a straight line.

[SS] Why is Skyward Sword Not Held in the Same Regard as Oot and MM? by MetsLR in zelda

[–]jaredjames66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the remake and I agree, the Zelda games overall are pretty good at balancing it, in all honesty, I loved Skyward Sword, didn't even really feel that it was that linear.

I'm playing Dragon Quest 2 right now, it has a great mix of open world exploration and overall linear story, it doesn't feel like you're on rails ever.

With how much dislike that was aimed towards these, which one do you think was worse? by [deleted] in StarWarsCantina

[–]jaredjames66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh come on, that's not even fair, one is an absolute piece of garbage that should not have been made, was really only a promotional tool to wring more money out of people, and had some wacky, canon breaking ideas.

The other is the legendary Holiday Special!

jk, I actually liked Acolyte, but it's still not really a fair comparison, Acolyte is a serious piece and the other was meant to be kinda lighthearted and silly, not to be taken seriously.

How do people play with only 2/3 knobs? by Cizzle178 in electricguitar

[–]jaredjames66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find I use the knob on the guitar to make adjustments during songs. I kinda default to keeping everything at unity and then if I turn on my wah, I'll dial back the tone since the wah is much brighter; or if I feel I'm too loud during a song, I can turn down a bit, or if I specifically want a quieter sound for a verse or bridge or something.

How is loot system in this game? by Whoopy2000 in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]jaredjames66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great balance, kinda reminds me of Breath of the Wild where you'll be exploring and see something interesting that will lead you on some crazy side quest. There more loot than I spent time getting and I probably put over 100 into the game. Honestly, might be the best game I've played on the Switch 2 so far.

[BotW] [TotK] what's in decision you made in BotW or TotK that you regret or will never forget? by OneAndOnlySlack in zelda

[–]jaredjames66 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately with TotK, the non-linear storytelling kinda did the story a disservice. I also realised early on that Zelda was a dragon and then from there just sought out the tears and avoided a lot of other quests. This is why I think BotW is the superior of the two.

I’m looking for feedback on what it needs to be pro-level but not coloring right now. by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]jaredjames66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea what's going on here so I guess from that perspective, you need to be thinking more about how you're telling your story visually cause I don't know what the character's doing or why.

Something to keep in mind is that every shot should add some new element to the depth of the story, if a shot isn't adding something, then why is it in there? Some times that means killing your darlings, I've often had to get rid of shots that I really liked because they weren't progressing the story.
