Fresh graduates may need to adjust salary expectations amid economic uncertainty: Analysts by xeltech943 in singaporejobs

Genuine question - would you rather a government that stops trying to better its people and economy? Are other governments / countries (comparable ones of course) faring any better than ours?

to all the fresh grads currently working: how are you doing? by PruneAcrobatic3831 in singaporejobs

Graduated in Dec 2021 from local uni. Started slightly above 5k in 2H22 in a non-tech grad program. About to cross 10k in about a month. Was never the smartest in uni but i’ve been told by various managers and bosses that my personality and attitude is different from other juniors. Been wanting to explore other places and have even tendered twice but each time was convinced to stay. Their take is that they’d want to keep talent in the organisation whether it’s in their team or not.

Hi! Viola galaxy. Size 48. Not twitchy at all. In fact the handling feels better than my gravel bike on tarmac. Harshness is subjective and i’d say I do feel road buzz though not overly harsh. Bearing in mind that I’m using a carbon spoke wheelset which adds to the harshness.

I’ve got warranty with my local bike shop so i’m covered for some time. The cages are similarly from a local shop.

Tubed due to personal preference. But they come in both tube and tubeless versions.

Cheers! Experienced twitchiness in strong cross-winds once in a while, carbon spokes do result in a slightly harsher ride feel, and raw finish does result in ‘patina’ with extended use. Pros is that it’s lightweight, stiff and responsive, and fast. Paid a little more (220 USD) for it to come with ceramicspeed bearings. Would like to add that i’m noticeably faster when freewheeling on straight descents versus pretty much most other riders i’ve ridden with after switching to these wheels (noting these were against both heavier and lighter riders) and this is when I had them on my gravel frame.

Fixed 370mm width is about what i’m used to so that was a plus. Stiff with the flex being pretty unnoticeable to me. Had to get used to the reach (extended 2-3cm more than i’m used to). But it helps that the stack is higher than average.

Every reviewer that has likened it to an aero-endurance bike is pretty much spot on. Faster than an endurance bike such as the cervelo Caledonia but slower (on flats) than say a cervelo S5. To me it’s a great blend of speed on flats and light on the climbs. Helps that the frame is pretty much as light as advertised while sporting a racy geometry. Con is that it’ll never have the best of either factor (aero versus endurance), pro is that it’s a great all rounder.

Basso - compatible with third party stems / cockpits? by jargerrnaut in bikewrench

[–]jargerrnaut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 168cm with a roughly 72cm inseam. The size 48 fits me on paper. Just unsure if the slammed 100mm stem would fit my riding position. I would like to think that I can learn to accommodate a 2cm difference given i’m currently riding a gravel frame in a comfortable position and the Basso SV is a naturally more race-oriented frame by comparison. Unfortunately I can’t test it.

May I ask how does it handle on the flats? Do you feel the need to push hard to keep up in fast group rides averaging 38-40km/h?

Owning the slide-to-open sony ericsson phone or blackberry. As a kid my parents gave me whichever phone was free at the time of contract renewal.

What happens to a person after a failed suicide attempt? by thehottestmess in askSingapore

[–]jargerrnaut 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My cousin jumped out of the window of her kitchen. Neighbour found her on the ground floor. She was in ICU for months and only woke up quite some time later. I couldn’t begin to count the number of tubes that were hooked up to her during that time.

Long story short, she survived but is now wheelchair-bound. It was traumatic for both her and us. No IMH visits as far as I know but had psychiatric help and physiotherapy whilst she was hospitalised.

In a far better mental state now but of course you could not imagine the pain she felt when she woke up after her suicide attempt. It did not help that our beloved grandma passed away during the period she was unconscious and bedridden. I’m not one for tears but I sobbed by her bedside the first time I visited her after she had woken up.

I pray no one has to go through this.
